I work in a motorized chopper bicycle shop daytime and build custom clip on at night! Yes, I am in "frame" business!
I've done computer repair work, bar tending, and stripping. Ok, floor stripping... now I stick with opticianry and school. School seems like a full time job.

Rental Properties and charity work is each a p/t job. The charity work is my pleasure as I now work with Make A Wish and our own dog rescue.
Being self-employed allows me the flexibility to do other things.

I also work at a hot tub/plumbing store, mainly just deal with hot tubs. Funny thing is that a lot of the customers are the same at both the hot tub store and the optical where i work, I get confused looks on a regular basis...

As an employer I have always stayed away from employing people that have 2 nd and 3rd jobs. Reason: they are always tired , do not have enough sleep or free relaxing times. Therfore their full attention to the office hour job can never be 100% for the require 8 hours.
I have seen people falling asleep on the job.
unfortunately now a lot of people can't make it on only one job. My optical job is well payed for htis area, but by the time i got done paying my student loans, rent, insurance, and phone bill i would have maybe $100 for groceries, gas, and any kind of fun i might want to have. I couldn't get by with just 1 job. Unless i wanted to live off of ramen, then the health problems would bankrupt me i'm fortunate to have flexible employers who appreciate that i'm a hard worker and they all work with me on a fixed schedule, and sometimes they like to suprise me with shifts just to make for a longer week i was working 80 hours a week when i first started in optical and didn't fall asleep once! you just have to be motivated!

Well I would like to have the second job, but the office I work at is just down the street from a big box store and both see a conflict of interest even though the big box store is screaming for help they will not have me and the office I work at will not let me. So my wife works full time at the Optometry clinic on base and part time at the big box store down the street.
So I remain domestic and do the house keeping chores inside and outside. And lady's when I say inside I do everything from swabbing the toilet to washing cloths and sweeping and moping changing bedding vacuuming washing the dish's. I draw the line a cooking.........sorry I just don't want to do it and I am not really good at it even though the wife would love me to do it.....I will take her out for dinner or call for takie outtie first.
I would much much rather be outdoors doing what is needed out there. I am anal about my yard and every time I cut grass I trim bushes edge, blow pull weeds. And somehow found time to put a metal roof in my house this year. Yes I did it. I did not hire it out. And built her a nice covered front porch on the house and no I did not hire that out ether.
So I guess you can say I "indirectly" have a second job. If I didn't do these things I would have to hire them out to be done.
Being a licensed Optician here in Florida the pay is OK. But anything else the pay is minimum wage and for that kind of money we feel my services are better used by my doing the domestic chores. (besides I can a few times a month sneak a day out on my motorcycle which blows the trash out of my head)
