looks like they are gone. I received a fax stating they were no longer in business. They list a phone number that gives a recording of the situation, and no way to leave a message.
Put Down the Phone and Drive
Yes, we've received email and phone messages confirming they are no longer in business. No we are just figuring out how to receive glasses back that were sent to Ophthonix. Shocking this happened so suddenly, but I guess it's been expected with the business model.
Sad/Frustrating....not looking forward to any other warranty remakes originally ordered through them.
I find it shocking that it took this long to self implode!

It has been a pleasure working with our customers, employees and friends over the last 11 years. Thank you for your many years of support.
We outed them 9 many years ago. i am sad they lost their jobs, but it was a scam from day 1.
Is Pixel next?
Its another statement on both good and bad in our industry. They went out of business because their product was crap. It was bad that it took ODs and dispenser 9 years to realize that.
The lesson is for the rest of us is how to avoid carefully crafted bull-pooey in the future. We want the shiny promises, but are they real? Does the technology hold up to scrutiny? Or is it just smoke and mirror, wrapped in big words designed to confuse us, not enlighten us.
Opthonix was a scam. Others scams are always lurking, waiting to fill our need to have the best and newest. Its a legitimate need, but we need the guts and knowledge to ask the hard questions. Examine the data. Look for proof. Are you willing to do it? Some people will respond by trying nothing new, its also a bad response. The real answer to become lens experts.
First, you need to shovel off the marketing.
Speaking of Pixel, are they back in production?
First steps, visit Optiboard and ask the tough quesitons... get some real answers and build some base knowledge.
And read the Progressive Articles on Opticampus.com. Twice.
Third, you can only do this at the Expos, but hover in the lens booths for awhile and eaves drop, find out who knows the stuff. Get past the fluffy cheer leader reps and find the engineers. The designers. The people more immune to the marketing crap. They are there, lurking quietly in the back dreaming of the Marchon party. Get their names, emails, and business cards. Ask what you can, but you have to have some base knowledge to peak their interest. They won't let their guard down and passion out to Freddy Frame Stylist.
Fourth. Its a cycle. The more you learn, the more questions you have, and once you meet the right people, you can get your real questions answered. Then of course you will have more questions. And it starts over. That's why you get the emails of engineers.
Voila.
A special thanks to Carl Zeiss, who many years ago in the midst of tough questions, offered to have someone from the corporate office call me. The head design engineer for the Gradal Top called me at what must have been 3 am his time. 2 hours later, I had learned more than in the previous 3 years combined about Progressive lens design and had a invitation to visit Zeiss in Germany.
How are practices dealing with the warranty issues? We haven't sold a pair in forever and suddenly we have a pt coming in looking for a warranty on a job about 2 weeks before the warranty ends. Any suggestions?
Honor it honorably.

Visiting Optiboard helps (some), but beware of those who are the first aboard that give rave reviews.
Go back in the archives...you'll see them their.
My rule of thumb: Wear it, and be honest with yourself. There's a reason why the old lens designs are still selling...
