You've got to tell me what it is so I can try it out. I've got an optyl frame I'd like to try it on.

And Judy, we asked Safilo for one of those bottles for the book so we could shoot it ourselves but all they could do was send us a picture. I'd have still included it but the editing process was hectic and went down to the wire. There were deadlines. It was a struggle to whittle the book down below 400 pages. It really could have been 600 pages. At some point when it was done I noticed the bottle wasn't in there. I still have a 66 page technical manual about optyl somewhere.

It's a beautiful plastic. Is it true that if you heat it thoroughly it's easy to use? I've heard different feedback from opticians. Some love it some hate it.

I didn't think it was especially difficult to work with. It does take patience and well-calloused fingers to withstand the heat, so it's not very "mc-tician" friendly.

Which was more fun--- getting the Crown Royal out of the bottle or putting the frame into it?

Well, funny you should ask. Crown Royal is not really my adult beverage of choice. However, the bottle and frame were a gift from DragonLensmanWV and I'm sure Mark had a wonderful time creating the display. He is sorely missed. I keep this on my desk in my home office along with an Oscar de la Renta frame he gifted me, a baseball cap from Calvin Howell and an ancient AO lensometer. They all serve as reminders of my place in the optical world and the luminaries who guided me.

Moss..............actually Acetone does not work right on acetate, it used to work beautiful on the old nitrate frames.

It is a solvent we are mixing together with some other ingredients and it work perfect on these Optyl frames.
