Congratulations to the four Tennessee opticians who recently took the ABO Advanced and passed! They should be recognized for their hard work and professional knowledge.

Congratulations! Quite an accomplishment.
That's awesome! Congrats!
I've wanted to take it for the past few years. Every time, either life got in the way or I chickened out. But, I want to be an ABOM, so I better just do it
Do not postpone joy
I’m working with a group of about 20+ opticians. These four were the first to attempt the Advanced. Hopefully more will take it in the coming months with similar results.
They have really worked hard and are due a great deal of respect for their success. The idea was to finish this exam and then work towards the Masters level.
Congratulations! Quite an accomplishment. Dr. Ferguson mentored these folks for some months, and prepared them well. We now have approximately 25 people advanced-certified (ABO, and 60+ NCLE-advanced) after nearly a decade. Think about it........the ABO/NCLE folks spent 75K to develop a book and review courses to prepare folks for this exam, with woeful results. Roy cost nothing, and has a 100% pass rate. Excellent job, Doc! I hope folks may eventually see the need for some level of educational preparation, which is the difference in pass rates, as we have been saying now for many years.

Thanks for the kind words.
My personal goal is to have 20+ opticians in Tennessee that have passed the exam. Next will be the Masters papers. I’m also suggesting that they all consider joining the Society to Advance Opticianry. Like everything else this is one step at a time.

What's odd is what many people say about the advanced and master certifications: "oh they don't mean anything; no one has them". The opposite seems true to me. I'm thrilled to hear about this, Roy.
I'd be happy to help anyone in SC that wants to go after the advanced certifications or needs advice on the Master's paper. Heck, I just got home from a quick preparation session for a SC optician who is taking the CLRE in Nov.

Congrats to those that passed!
Are any of them members here? If so, maybe they could share their thoughts, experiences, and opinions on the test, studying for it, encourage others!
