Hello, anyone have wholesale accts they would like to save me some money? I have dental friend that needs one but I just don't see $1000 worth of optical parts. It looks like a safety frame with two eye pieces cut into the lenses. Any help would be appreciated.

There are companies that sell loupes (proper spelling btw) that flip down. However, part of the price that is being asked is to pay for a pair of individualized loupes. The PD has to be properly set as well as angle in and down to provide proper viewing. That does not come cheap. The lenses are precision ground and polished optics. The mount itself is precision made on a lathe by a highly skilled machinist.

And, as an aside, dentists are one of the more highly paid medical professions around. I'll bet your friend drives an expensive car...so tell him to man up and spend the money to get a good pair. He will use them for many years, and most likely will be able to depreciate them over that time.
