Hoya Spectangle

I watched a youtube video about the hoya spectangle app for the iPad and was curious if anyone has seen it in person and also some input on it vs Optikam or the visio office. Is it worth the extra money to invest in the more expensive machine? Will there be a noticable difference in quality?

I saw the Hoya video as well at a HOYA BEF conference. Can't say yet.

Wait until VEW and check out the slew of them there.....there's one supposedly pretty hot one coming out that will put Hoya's to shame. We'll see.

Since you're offering something better concerning centration devices i.e. "put HOYA to shame", what are your comments about the HOYA Spectangle.

Any details, good, bad, or ugly concerning the HOYA product would be appreciated since I was planning to purchase the app in a few days.

My Hoya rep should be back in a month or so and I will make sure to test it out then if somebody doesn't get to it first. Race do you know who is releasing the other app?

The VSP lab rep seemed pretty thrilled, not that that says alot.

I use an app called 'optical dispensing assistant' works well.

bingo. saw the app in person and it's pretty slick and very fast. I'll be at VEW checking it out. beta test is in the NW Region though :(

Anyone have experience with Hoya's new Spectangle Pro?

I have never seen one of these apps or devices in action. Has anyone found that their remakes due to seg heights, etc. have been reduced? I'd never be able to convince our big cheese to get something expensive like this unless it might actually save money in the long run.

I've never used Spectangle but I have been using an Optikam Pad for a little over 8 years. It works great for me. But, it is just a tool, and it is only as good as it's operator, it's not automatic and it's not magic. If you have remakes for seg heights now(which I think should almost never happen) this isn't going to be the silver bullet.
