Some dingbat listening to you giving a lecture course might be impressed!

Or more importantly some dingbat selecting lecture teachers for the next siminar might be impressed.

Come on Chip. This is not necessary.

    Wink Chip has been around....

Chip has been around ALMOST long as I have.He often fires one for "effect". I know he would be the first one to tell you that you always learn something new at each seminar.A new sales technique, a different method for doing something, or just another viewpoint. There's always something there.

If you don't continue to learn you become stagnant.Thats why education will be the key to the salvation of this industry.

FYI- according to Webster's dictionary, the word dingbat's first definition is a typographical symbol such as ^,*, #. Its second definition is "Kook" etc. When I was young, my grandmother used to fry small pieces of dough, sprinkle sugar and cinnimon on them. She called them dingbats.

    Question Chip

I hoped to get more insight into the "new " certification 'Advanced Certification' that ABO/NCLE presented. I think that the more education you get the better you will understand all aspects of your job. That doesn't discount the education of experience it just adds to it.

When the 'Advanced Certification' first came out, I wandered why ABO/NCLE would have an Optician who already had the ABO masters sign up for it since the end result was the ABO master certification. Thus my question in this thread.

    ABO-AC

    Hi Jerry, Diane, Harry, Chip...

It was my understanding that, when ABO-AC came out, it was meant as a stepping stone to get the ABOM. Pretty much the first step, with the paper to follow.

I do not see any reason for an ABOM to then sign up (and pay?) to also be ABO-AC. Were they advertising it for ABOM's to sign up? That would not make any sense at all to me.

    Thumbs up Laurie

I agree. But when I signed up for it the info from ABO stated that it was not necessary for those who had the ABOM certification to examine for the ABO 'advanced certification' to be granted the ABO-AC but they did say that you had to maintain this certification monetarily and with so many advanced certified courses.
Sounded like a different certification then the ABOM.
