The Optical Lab Division of the Vision Council has announced David Rips, president and CEO of Younger Optics, as the recipient of the 2012 Directors' Choice Award.
“David Rips and his company, Younger Optics, have always been a driving force in new technologies and have maintained the commitment to support all facets of the optical industry. His company and his team are considered true partners within the laboratory network, especially on the independent side of the business,” said Mike Francesconi, Optical Lab Division chairman. “My company, along with many others, has enjoyed the fruits of David’s labor: leadership and cutting edge technology to maintain a competitive edge and independence in the market place.” He added, “From the day I met David, I’ve always referred to him as the ‘professor of technology’ and his passion and love for this industry is second to none.”
The Directors' Choice Award will be presented to David Rips during the 13th Annual Optical Pioneers Hall of Fame Banquet on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, beginning at 6:30p.m., at The Venetian in Las Vegas. Hall of Fame banquet tickets are available for $90 and can be purchased by anyone attending the Optical Lab Division meeting or the International Vision Expo West.
The Optical Laboratories Association (OLA) first established the Directors' Choice Award in 1987 to honor individuals, companies or organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the ophthalmic industry. Now, in its twenty-sixth year, the Optical Lab Division of The Vision Council carries on that tradition. The award is still recognized as one of the most prestigious honors in the industry.
