Idea Clear to Polarized or the Vantage will be released on May 1

I am happy to announce this.

I spoke to one of the nicest reps Ihave spoken to in a long time Glenn Batteiger the Florida Rep forTransitions Optical. I was reorder POP for my optical and I emailedhim. He called me back and spoke to me for about 15 mins. I have tosay I was much happier after I spoke to him, just a really nicegentleman.

He said the Clear to Polarized or theVantage will be released on May 1. We will be able to put ARC onthem. They will come in 1.5, Poly, Trivex, and 1.67. As for theshade. Indoors they will look like the XTRActive slightly tinted.

He also said you can go tohttp://www.transitionsvantage.comand take the quiz and then get the POP for your optical. I cannotwait to get my Vantage lenses. And once again Mr. Batteiger is onceof the nicest reps I have spoken to in a long time. He made me oneto sell another 10 pairs!

Glenn asked me were I had gotten myinformation about the new lenses. I told him I belonged to theOptiboard and that I was rather young in the optical field and hadonly been in it for about 6 years, but that I enjoyed being apart ofthis Forum, even though you guys pic on me for my spelling and mygrammar.

    Ed

PS, He asked me to put this up onOptiboard.

Of course we believed them when they said February, and when they said March. I'll believe them when they are in my office.

There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

Wow you guys are so negative. Did youeven go to their website? Not sure they would go to all the troubleof putting up that web site and sending out the POP kits to just pushback the release date.

I say this out of concern that you feel you have been discriminated against because of your writing skills.

It's difficult for me personally to understand your posts because of the spelling errors and the grammatical errors. Nobody is perfect, but I feel you might be doing yourself a disservice by not at least using the spell check offered through optiboard. I'm sure you have plenty to offer here on this Forum but we need coherent posts that we can follow in order to initiate a conversation. You are right, not everybody has an editor for a father (like I do) or articulates themselves well with the written word. You are also right that it is poor form to pick on people. However, take a little bit more time with your posts and I'm sure you will find a greater willingness to listen from your fellow Optiboarders.

As for this post, many of us who have been in the business for a while have been told that a product will be available to us shortly only to have the dates pushed back time and time again. This is quite common. I think you may be mistaking the pragmatic as negative nellies. Don't get sucked in by the hype. :)

    Good post.
I've had some difficulty following your posts as well Ed. While the occasional typo (temple pigs! still hilarious, btw!) is funny, too many of them make the message too garbled to decipher. We don't want to run you off or make you feel bad, so keep posting, and with an eye for accuracy.

Q: For my very light-sensitive customers, can I edge a set of chemetrie polarized 90 degrees off, and REALLY make them dark?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm sure he did. Transitions dropped their OptiBoard sponsorship a while ago. Perhaps they miss us?

We have two patients in these with a third pair on order. Patients who have them like them. These became available to us from our lab the end of March.

Big Transitions Vantage event in Richmond on May 8. I'm excited about it. If the lens does half of what it claims to, it could be a game-changer.

My POP material just arrived today, together with the free demo kit. The demo kit has (1) the simulated screen and (2) an adaptive demo lens with AR. But not the one with uv light. So, to show pt the Vantage lens, we must walk pt to the outside with the demo kit on a sunny day.

I also noticed that the activation (i.e., the source of uv light) must from the front side of the lens. I guess that's one of the Vantage lens' "feature"

Use the old activator or they will gladly "sell" you a new one.

Attended the Transitions Vantage tour last night in Dallas. Looks like an interesting new product. No polarization when (virtually) clear, so electronic devices are not affected. Not activated behind windshield, same as transitions VI. They stopped short of saying it can be an all around lens, and should be supplemented with a dedicated polar sun. Best customer would be someone who spends a LOT of time outdoors. They begged of pricing, said talk to your supplier. Overall looks like a nice new offering for the right customer.

HMM, I asked the TNS rep if they wouldd in the car and he said yes. Well that sucks. Don't see how they would be better than the Extra Active then.

Their slideshow gave a graphic of the different Transitions lenses, with VI, XtraActive, and now Vantage. It showed the overlap of the coverage of tinting and the Vantage showed NOT activated behind the windshield. The improvement in in the polarization when standing in the pasture.
