Dumb question. The labs I use sell theNuploar Polarized Gray Lenses. I use the Gray 3 or Brow 3 as theDarkest. But lately they don't seem to be very dark. Can I tintthem as well? Will this mess up any of the polarization effects?
Thanks Ed

Nupolar is a great product but ask your lab if they have SunRx from Vision Ease available. Dark true Gray and Brown. To answer if you can tint..depends if your lab used a tinatable backside hard coat. If you can tint, I would avoid an extended time...film seperation may occur
Thanks for the info!
My lab has told me that they routinely add tint to some NuPolar lenses.
I tint cr-39 often, it's best to tint them before you edge them, otherwise they get a waving like appearance around the edges.
Nupolar does not put the polarization filter on the very top, there is a clear layer over that. That layer and the hard coat are potentially tintable.
Nupolar is less likely to delaminate in the tint bath than other brands.
If you want it tintable though, order Poly with a tintable Hard Coat or CR-39 without any hard coat at all. You will usualy see only a 15-20% change max though, so its limited.
Thanks for the info
We have many customers coming in wanting it done on their existing glasses. For obvious reasons we say it's a bad idea and we are not liable if anything happens.
But, that being said I have a pretty decent amount of success tinting poly polarized on a cooler temperature. (about 120-130 degrees) Anytime I go above 200 the coat is just ruined however.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the info
