ABOM availability distance study

Hi,

I'm new to Optiboard posting, so bear with me if mistakes are evident. I live in New Zealand, although I received my qualifications as a Dispensing Optician in 1984 in Richmond, Virginia USA. What I would like to know: Is there any study that can be done by correspondence through the ABO? I would love to continue in my studies - and having been absent from optics for a period of 10 years, would like find a current course on refraction and contact lenses. Is anything like this or the Master's programme available either online or by distance study?

The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology has on-line and CD programs in contact lenses and refraction among others. Find them at www.nait.ab.ca/onlinecourses/distance.htm. I have reviewed the refraction program, and find it to be excellent. I hope this is helpful. Professor Karl Hauck is the lead instructor and will be pleased to hear from you. Good luck.
