Highest Rx in my 30 years -27.00-6.00

Just wanted to share a recent job I completed using standard lab equipment.

    Rx

    OD -27.00-6.00x180
    OS -27.00-3.00x180

I was able to achieve this RX by using a standard 1.67 blank. I processed minus base curve first then BTC-CC with a +7.00 carrier cut. To my surprise I was able to edge using a 7E. Finish layout markings on Humphrey Auto Lensometer. Geometric center blocking for finish with the edger providing decentration to maintain a parallel or flat chucking in edger which aided in final bevel placement. Final roll achieved by hand edging.

Durn good-looking for that Rx. Might have been able to use a steeper back curve though.

According to the dispensor, patient was extremely pleased with cosmetics of glasses. VA's were great according to the Doctor with the patient describing a minimal amount of "fish bowl" affect. This patient hadn't had glasses in several years..for him it was contacts off...straight to bed. He wears glasses most of the time now vrs contacts.

    Thanks for the positive comments

I'm glad they are working for him though I wonder why he would prefer them to contacts.

We had a similar patient a number of years ago who had a very high correction and wore contacts. She wanted some glasses to wear around the house. They were about a -29, I don't remember the cylinder if any. She wasn't able to wear them. With contacts she was 20/40.

We just did a -24.25 -2.75 x84 in SV. We did the Ice-Tech SV in 1.74 and the end result was a 8.4 mm ET, slight roll. 49/18 with 29.5 pd. It looked pretty impressive, but I didn't snap a pic.

Any idea of what the axial length on that poor patient was? Any PVD?

Nice work. My only comment would be to wonder if the patient couldn't have been talked into a zyl frame, which would have concealed some edge and anchored the lens more securely.

I'm curious about what the retail was on the lenses as well, was showing them to my fiance and he asked and I had to tell him I wasn't quite sure.
