Although we have been in the vision wear field for a number of years, we are in the process of developing a new information website for consumers. We are not publishing the site name yet. Our goal is to educate consumers about eye care and vision wear products. The site will also include vision wear advertising.

    Writers wanted

Sounds like something that might be a good fit for me. I have 35 years of experience in the optical field. I'm licensed in Virginia, though I have passed the Connecticut, Arizona, and South Carolina licenses in the past. I've worked for Ophthalmologist, Optometrists, Independent and chain Opticians, and owned my own retail optical store in Connecticut before moving to Virginia. Look forward to hearing from you. Email is dap64@netzero.com Thank You

Sounds like something geared for on-line eyeglass sales. No thanks.

Respectfully request a full disclosure of who and what you represent. Otherwise, I fear that you will get flamed. Legitimate requests are transparent on this board.:)

    Diane,

    Thank you for the comment.

Before I posted, I fully reviewed job forum rules. I respect those rules. I hope others will too.

FYI, Diane's question is a legitimate one.

Indeed it is, Ken. A few of us on this site write for trade publications, create CE's and lecture to and for the optical professions. Before we commit to anything, we want to know the who, what, why and where of the publication. Our professional reputations depend on it. If you are looking for content for an online retailer, this is the wrong place to do it. If you are sincerely trying to educate consumers, we just want to know that as well.

Believe me, we read and understood the same posting guidelines.

The idea was to exchange details offline. Questions are answered fully. It would be extremely difficult if not impossible to get writers to commit to something they do not want to do.

As mentioned above, this is a new project. We are still in development, which is why I would prefer not to mention who, what, why and where on a public forum.

We are not an online retailer, but this is for online readership, for online business and online advertising. Many large sites advertise for online retailers. It’s almost a given.

This is a job board for eye-care professionals. Some readers have responded positively, and so from their perspective and my perspective, it is a perfect place to do it. That said, I respect your opinion and perspective. You are an active member here and I am not.

To full disclosure question, I think I have disclosed enough to make it easy for people to decline at this point. I think for most readers you might still be left wondering and asking for information publicly. I am sorry, but look at a typical classified ad, or online ad, they are sometimes pretty brief. And also, our competition reads too, and I would guess some read here.

The fact that I am posting here on a professional eye care forum should be evidence enough that consumer education and consumer interest in general is a very high priority. Believe me, there are many non-eye care writers available out there.
