    My favorite question

I guess it's been about a year since the last time anyone has asked, so it was my time.

NO I'M NOT PREGNANT, I'M JUST FAT.

I prefer, "Do you take my insurance."

    That is all.

Well, as long as we're getting personal...how 'bout the hair - is it a weave? Only asking jokingly as I just read an article about the two most sensitive (read: don't go there) subjects for women. Just thought I'd try out the other one since you seem to be so....open.

Yesterday was just the insult Annie day I guess. I had another guy, who I swear was probably the first engineer there ever was, who hobbled over and very pleasantly began to tell me that he had spoken with my predecessor who said I was very nice, but didn't have much experience. Despite this the patient decided he was going to come to see me anyway.

Gee thanks, I feel all warm and fuzzy now.

I always try to remember that:

    1) They are there because they aren't seeing well.
    2) By default they probably aren't hearing well........

    3) Social grace and intelligence, will be restored as soon as they are seeing well. My job!

Geez louise, why would anyone say this out loud to you?? Never mind your predecessor throwing you under the bus! It's not a secret that the other gals in my office aren't as experienced as I am at Opticianry, but I'd never let on to a patient that I didn't have confidence in them. I hope he tipped you a quarter for your efforts.

Should have told them it was really neat because you and your wife were pregnant at the same time.

I usually get "where have you been?" when I've been sitting at my desk for the past 3 hours....

I did get a question from an account asking what the depth of a FT-45 was. I have to admit I had to go pull one and measure. (The current ones from Younger are 25mm, in case anyone wanted to know.)

For the record, I agree with those above me who have complete faith in your abilities as an optician.

There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

Well thank you all. I have decided though, that I am in fact pregnant, and that if it's a boy I'm naming it Fezz, but I'm at a loss for a good girls name. I'll take any suggestions.

By the way, in my mind, my Fezz will come out in bell bottoms, super tight shirts and and super slick hair do, ala Fezz from That 70's show. He will also come out with an extreem foreign accent, although, we will never know from where.

So you are telling me if I have a little baby girl, she still has to come out with a goatee and bear belly?

Well, according to my patients I guess she'll resemble me more than my other kids. Poor kid.

Those last three are foreign dishes; she might eat'um, but she'll resent having been named after them.

Think of the heartburn these dishes would produce!

OH MY GOSH. SECOND TIME IN TWO WEEKS. I'M NEVER EATING AGAIN, AND I'M ABOUT TO GO IN THE BACK AND CRY.
what is wrong with people? And it's been women, both times. Don't they get how rude it is to ask someone if they are pregnant when they aren't?
