    EyemedContacts.com????

I may be behind the times here, but I just saw a fax this morning at the office to confirm a contact lens Rx for a patient of ours from Eyemedcontacts.com. Now we lose money on the claims, give LC money from our Lux frames, and now send our contact lens patients online to buy contacts directly from the insurance company.

When did this start? When will it end?

Yikes! So wait, they apply the benefits and take the payment from the patient? Way to cut out the middle man...

To the best of my knowledge I dont think they can use their insurance benefits to purchase contacts here. I think its just another discounted online contact lens site. To use insurance benefits the patient must still come into a retailer.

Look at the help section. If this were Eyemed vision care they would be able to utilize the benefits online. Let's face it eyemed calready has the database ported for a website it would take all of 2 seconds for them to have the patient input their id etc and make a claim. This looks like a smart online retailer that has grabbed soem images from eyemed and is capitalizing on the name recognition.

Inspired by the web-savvy Chris Ryser, I decided to check out Alexa and Whois to see who is behind the site.

    Not terribly surprised.

I think even the fact that the landing page for this site shows "EyeMed Vision Care" in their own logo, is a dead giveaway. It was at least an interesting read on US Shoe Corp. Funny.

At least VSP wouldn't go direct to the patients. LOLOLOLOL!!
