We currently have an R&D Wearers Test Coordinator career opportunity at our Dallas, TX location.

This position will be located in Dallas. It will require at least 2 trips for 2 weeks each to Florida for hands on training in the Wearers Test Program. All other initial training will be handled on site in the Dallas Technical Center.

1. ROLE
Coordinate wearers test program activities including logistics, dispensing, inspections and reporting of results and is a key person participating in the development and enhancement of the Wearers test group
2. MISSIONS AND ACTIVITIES
1. Wearers Test Coordinator - including Set-up and execution.
Set-up individual wearer tests as needed, defining the configuration of lens treatments that will provide the most real to life testing results.
• Coordinate lens order, surfacing and lens treatments.
• Identify and communicate with selected wearers for appointments.
• Coordinate making eyewear, including all experimental parameters, and scheduling fittings.
• Fitting and dispensing of eyewear to candidates.
• Supporting Wearers’ Test individuals or team in their daily operation (organization of Wearers’ Test, logistics…)
2. Analyses of the lenses to measure the performance of Essilor and competitive products, and wearer perception.
• Organize periodic analysis of lenses with qualitative and quantitative documentation.
• Perform expert analysis of all eyewear for quantitative assessment of overall performance.
• Coordination of detailed analysis of treatment failures and root cause determination.
• Interview participants in each test to better know their habits.
• Generate and issue international reports providing the acceptability of a new product launch and comparative performance of competitor’s products.
• Use test method as needed to follow lens properties Vs wearing time.
3. Provide input pertaining to optical quality or real life reliability of lenses.
• Optical properties such as Waviness, Power uniformity, Adaptation to lens design.
• Material properties including but not limited to Anti-Reflect efficiency, haziness, Color, level of scratches and other defects.
• Actively participating in creation and implementation of new or improved tools (database), documentations and inspection techniques.
4. Inspection (Cosmetic and physical) of lenses and their treatments
• In addition to tests or cosmetic inspections performed by Measurement Product Performance Lab Assistant I, to perform complex lens performance testing for substrates, hard coated and hard multi coated lenses:
• Standard and expertise cosmetic lens inspection.
• And / or physical characterization.
• And / or optical characterization.
• Other tests of similar complexity.
• Perform basic maintenance, checking and calibration following written procedures.
• Keep equipment life sheet updated.
• Understand the scope of the test method and the output.
• Maintain results documentation and other test lab records.
• Assure that lab equipment is in good working order and in current calibration status.
• Follow lab safety practice and policies.
• Other assigned duties as requested
3. PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
• Associates degree in related discipline with 1-2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
• Licensed Optician or ABO certified preferred.
• 5-8 years of inspection experience in a lab environment with demonstrated strong technical aptitude and good problem solving skills.
• Superior organization skills with previous experience coordinating multiple tasks.
• Self-started and self-directed
• Ability to work with all members of working groups regardless of skill level or expertise.
• Must be a team player and display positive behavior.
• Proficient in spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software.
• Math skills including ratios, fractions and percents.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Must display flexibility in work assignments to accommodate group and personal goals.
• Able to work efficiently and communicate with program or project team and with other department locally and internationally.
• Knowledge of basic optics and optical processes and products.
• Knowledge of performance test methods preferred.
• Demonstrated technical writing skills.
• Willing to travel domestic or internationally 5%
