    Question Foam laps

Does anyone who uses GC foam laps know of any place else to purchase them? They have gone up 30% or more on their prices. Also wax for blocker. Thanks

We started reusing the leftover foam laps. It's cut my ordering down to about half of what it used to be. Just wanted to pass it on in case you aren't already reusing them.

I also have an SGX generator but I honestly don't know what the 27,24,and21 are. Please explain, I guess I don't know what that is.

Its in the configuration menu If I remember correctly. Each foam, sfoam, and pfoam has a different thickness setting. You can edit them as long as you keep track of the setting. We use a clothes basket to retain all of the used foam tools that were cut. Then after going through the box of new ones we reset the thickness setting of the foam tools and cut as many of the used foams from our clothes basket. Saves you money!! And you go "green" by recycling.

Write the curves on the top of the lap, when reusing the lap the old curve numbers will be erased and you can put on the new.

I looked into foam laps when I first got started in surfacing. Found out that my generator wasn't really designed to accept the foam blanks, so we cut plastic ones and reuse them without too much fuss, as many as three or four times. You get a truer, sturdier tool this way...and once in a while we hit the lottery and get to reuse one without recutting it.

    Hey folks,
    Just a quick question here.
Are we talking about Gerber "Lap Master 2" laps?
If so, how do you go about removing the foam lap adapter from your foam laps? Whenever I use them, after removing the foam lap adapter, I can see that the cross cutout on the bottom of the lap has stretched slightly from inserting the adapter.
Is this a problem? It seems to me that the lap would not be as secure after placing the lap adapter the second time

Are you having good results with foam laps on poli lenses. We have one SGX and two SL2 where we can cut foam laps and has never been able to get good surface quality with foam laps on poli. But we do use them sometimes for CR39 and 1.6 high index with acceptable results
