Has anyone taken any of the CPO/CPOA/CPOT examinations? I am currently NCLEC and plan on taking the CPOA exam next year. Any suggestions on study materials or recommendations on testing?
Thanks!

Have you looked into the requirements to take the CPOA? You may not be eligible. The first step is usually CPO unless you have been to one of the four paraoptometry schools or have an advanced certification from ABO NCLE. I trained someone in the dispensing and cl technology portions of the CPOT last year and considered attempting the CPOA myself as well. After doing some research, I decided against it for the time being. COA/COT/COMT are probably a better option.

I called the AOA and they stated that as long as I have NCLE certification, it does not have to be the advanced in order to take the CPOA exam. They stated that it did indeed use to be advanced certification only but that has changed recently to be any NCLE or ABO certification.
Thanks for the update.

I took the CPOA about 9 years ago and used "The Ophthalmic Assistant", "Self Study course for Paraoptometric cert", and "System for Ophthalmic dispensing". On a side note I let my CPOA lapse and currently have my ABOC, NCLEC, and COT. The study materials for any of the certifications was helpful.
thanks for this news
Does anyone have any tips or help for the CPOT practical? The video online wasnt so much help.

Thanks for the updated info! I am going to take the COPA in February 2013. I have been studying material from Lynn Lawrence. Here are both of his links http://lynnslecturehelp.wordpress.com/lectures/

I also have the study material from the AOA.
