Looking for a place to buy metal PD sticks at an inexpensive price. Any ideas? Metal is a must and needs to have a hole at one end.
Thanks,
Vicki

Vicki: Times must really tough or you must have the cheapest boss in the business if the cost of a PD stick (or even a 1/2 dozen) is effecting your bottom line. Maybe E. Bay? If it doesn't have a hole, can you use a drill?
Chip
I can sell you 13 aluminum foil pd sticks that I have my cub scout group make as a badge requirement endeavor!
Times are not tough and my boss has nothing to do with my question! However, I am being serious. I am looking for the most inexpensive route to buy metal pd sticks for a project. I have gotten some quotes through a couple of optical wholesale places, ie, hilco, western oph., etc. The cheapest I have found is a lil over a buck. I'm looking to buy a large quantity so looking for a bulk price. So, again, I ask, does anyone know of a good place to look? I am a SC Licensed Optician, not a consumer by the way.
My boss got a great deal on PD sticks. He got about 400 of them for free! Of course, it was at VEW, and he had to pay for the flight, and a few other minor expenses.

Rulers - Stainless Steel - Certified
Inch/Metric 1/32", mm - 6", 12", 24", 36" & 48" Lengths - Model 2020A
From the link Chris posted:
2020A-06 6" Length - Complete With Certificate Of Accuracy Traceable To NIST $22.22
Now, the question becomes, "What is your definition of inexpensive?" Unlike mechanics, who require a weekly visit from the traveling tool truck, and considering the amount of use a PD rule gets, I'd say $22.22 is relatively inexpensive.
My defintion of the word ..............................is cheap
Why should a PD gauge be as cheap as possible ? Should it not be as good as it can be. Why do you as a B&M professional buy cheap professional instrument or gauges ? Probably to give away for use with on-line opticals.
Guys, re-read Vicki's second post. "It's for a project" . Jezz....
Maybe her kid wants to make a PD stick rocket for all you know. Like hamsters, we tend to devour our own here. Vicki is a licensed optician and has been a member here since 2000. Sorry Vicki, I can't find them cheaper that you already have.

Gosh, didn't expect such responses to just a simple request! But, Thank You, OIC....I appreciate your support! I have no intentions to support on-line opticals.
Just to clarify, I have a product that would available for optician's to purchase that will be a badge clip that will clip to your lab jacket/shirt, to hold your PD stick with a retractable cord for easy use!!!
I use one if my daily life as an Optician and would like to offer it to others here on this board and in our industry!! I wanted to purchase the PD sticks to have with the badge. So, again, I was just simply asking if anyone knew of a place I could get them in bulk to have to sell with the badge. The badge would have different designs, for instance, mine I'm using now has my initial. There are holiday themes as well as pictures of eyeglasses or an eyechart.
Just as OIC clarified, I have been a member on here since 2000 and have no ill intentions.
Thanks,
Vicki

I would just ask the place that has them for a buck/piece if you can speak with management & ask them for a volume discount or make them a volume offer. Something like that. My guess is if you want to buy 10 coats or 8 cars or anything in a larger quanity, anyone with any pull in the company should be able to cut a deal.

Vicki, Are you offering these for sale?? I'm interested! Brilliant idea!
The post is from LAST September.
If it's from last September, hopefully you made a few of them.....
Just becareful they don't fly up into your face. I prefer plastic to not scratch lenses. Cheap or expensive. A PD stick is a PD stick. As long as it measures in MM. It's not like it's an automated instrument or Pupilometer!

They're a 1.49 if you buy 100+. On a side note they also carry many electronics parts needed to repair surfacing and edging equipment at a fraction of the cost, but it's not optician friendly brush up on your electronic engineering.
yes, it was since Sept. but no one to date had offered any suggestions that met her criteria. The only real suggestion I saw was by the Best googler/copier & paster ever for the $22 ones that totally went against what she was looking for.
