Are these single vision plastic? Almost anything else will have a scratch coat.If the patient now wants AR then I would just redo the entire thing. Is that possible? Single vision plastic lenses aren't that expensive.

Any AR you add now probably will not be good quality and will scratch easily and be hard to clean. It's sure to turn her/him off AR forever!

If a mistake is made and the lens is edged before the src is applied, can i save it by applying ARC to protect the lens?

    trivex, 1.60, 1.67?

Everything except CR-39 would have SRC.

If I remember right, I think the lenses have to be coated to AR them due to the porosity and lack of uniformity of the surface of most of the materials. AR coats are extremely thin, and must be uniform to provide goor AR properties. I dont think there's any satisfactory way around coating the lenses if you want to AR coat them.

Zeiss SET does not hold up well on a non coated lens unless it's cr39, If they could coat it wonderful but my AR lab says they need a full blank to coat.

If you really want to see this through I would try if those edged lenses can be handled by a good spin coater using the smallest vacuum chuck, this should leave
no mark as the residue is swung off the lens, using a premium UV curable SRC in a suitable application thickness for further AR processing.
The clamps for AR are available with optimised tips for edged lenses (nylon groove, knifed edge plus lenses, thick minus.....) and leave no clamp marks
in a reasonable designed vacuum chamber. Don`t forget to take them out after the one side....;-)
You will not achieve 100% quality as on a thermal dip SRC factory uncut AR coat, but way better than no SRC under the AR.

Of course you can coat a un-coated lens. You can also strip some of the hard coats.

If you hard coat the lens using a spin coater, you will have a build up of coating around the circumfrence of the edged lens. Not the greatest quality. And any kind of dip coating,on an edged lens, will not give you a great base to AR the lens.
