So I got a job back from our lab that I had written "myodisc" on (a -30 with a -2.75 cyl) and got back a
"myo disc?"
I've not messed with one in ages since I usually reserve them for stupid high myopia, does anyone still make them anymore?

Bart Smith, continuing to be awesome since 1982 so that you don't have to.
Love is a duet, each voice complementing each other and making them sound better than they would alone, each voice at times stepping back and letting the other shine. We've got a pretty good duet going Tina.
On April 28th, I'll be marrying my best friend. I can't wait!
Younger discontinued their blended myodisk blanks a few years ago. Otherwise they can be made in several ways. I use a 1.70 index 11 base lens to cut the spherical portion, then turn the blank over and put the cyl on the front. They can be made using a freeform basis also. I'm sure some of the other labs will chime in to let you know they can do them.

Optima sells Semi-finished Frontside SV myodiscs in 1.74. Digitally blended backside mydiscs are amazing for really high minus, you barely see the blend" Quest Optical in one option, there are others. Just did a -24.00 and it looked spectacular.
X-cel still manufactures the blanks too.
No one left that can grind one? That's sad. I can. But I am going to school to learn something that can't be out sourced to China.
They're actually not that difficult to make. I still have the first one I ever did when I was in school.

Quest Optical Specialty Lab in Largo, FL makes them in any material, any power, one sided or double sided (bi-concave myos for extreme high minus powers or very high cyl. powers)
i still make em...and because of the process i use (mostly just how you polish them) the blend is tough to see!!!

It really was one of the more satisfying duties. I enjoyed making them. Wes and bhess25 should give the labs name so people will know where they can order these.
You know, you'd think a lab would at least Google before asking the customer what is myodisc. Just a quick look and I found this source.

If you want me to make you a myodisc, all you have to do is join the army...

Depends on whether the army is having trouble recruiting. Right now in a recesion, not so much. In 2004-5, why not?
