    swimming glasses rx?

    a kid has a rx of
    od: -4.00-1.25x180
    os: -4.50-1.25x180

    i can only get the swimming glasses in spherical powers only. is it better for the patient if i do sphere equivilant? or just ignore the cyl?

    Contact BKlomann here on Optiboard. He can help you with custom lenses for the goggle. That much cyl. patients not going to be able to see with spherical equivilant.

    You could also trial frame them and see if a sphere would work for them.

    Depends on how much fine print reading or critical small part assembly they're going to do whilst swimming.

    I'd do the spherical equivalent. The kid needs to see the end of the pool, not read a book.

    I put spherical equivalents in this or stronger cyls all the time. Everyone I've dealt with are way more concerned with a smaller cost that 20/20 vision.

    Anyone remember years ago an rxable goggle where you hand beveled the lens to a super steep angle so it fit the bezel but still sealed watertight then muscled them into the goggle?

    Hilco will let you put specific sphere powers for each eye (some assembly required) tinted lens only.
