    Confused Occupational lens

Someone has hidden or thrown away my Frames Fax Lenses supliment. Looking for an occupational lens (upper flat top seg and progressive lower).
Would someone please share what is available?

    Thank you,

    Chip

I don't believe anyone makes one. Varilux used to make a progressive lower and an ultex style on the top. I never sold a lot of them but for pilots and trade workers they were great. I believe there is a need for that type of lens but I imagine the sales aren't high enough to warrant having one.

You will probably need to have someone do you a freeform on the back of a semifinished progressive.

No one makes one anymore. You can get Three Rivers Optical to make you a round seg (up to 30 mm) on the backside upper portion of a conventional progressive. Or they can make the top seg blended.

Last one I saw was a progressive in the lower, and a press on seg on top....
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

Speed and Ddragon are correct, in fact, a couple of years ago I started a thread about this very topic. I had been making an Overview lens by Essilor (comfort on bottom and Ultex on top) for a local Ent doc for 15 years until they discontinued it. I ended up having to go to 3R to get simlar results where they did a freeform progressive and put a round 45(their max size of round seg) which ended up looking surprisingly a lot like an ultex on top. Only difference is, I, unfortunately have had to see him as a patient, have had 18 cauterizations of my left nostril due to nosebleeds, and his staff makes fun of his groucho looking glasses, he looks like he has the double eyebrow effect. Honestly, they work great for him, and I think he enjoys being different and notioced for them.

Each design corresponds to a Dynamic Power. The Dynamic Power is the amount of power that is subtracted from the total reading prescription. In other words, it is the gradual reduction of power as the eye moves from the reading zone to the intermediate zone.

Your promotion of online glasses aren't even in the topic we're discussing.Occupational, yes, but bifocal over progressive, no.

Afraid you'll need to have someone freeform it for you :(
