    Finding progressive lens markings

Does anyone have a special trick to find the markings on progressive lenses. I was taught to basically hold them up to the light until you see it. I equate it to those posters they use to sell at the mall where you stare at it until you see the unicorn pop out.

    I use a magnifier 5x (Jeweler's Eye ? !) and I look at the lenses over a black sheet.
By tilting the lenses under the light, you can see the markings

The longer you do it, the easier it gets. Sometimes there just aren't any markings; on a real high minus they're really, really hard to see. So it's not just you--not always.

I've used a PAL identifier before (a lighted magnifier with a green grid as a background behind the lens), and they just make me cross-eyed. I can never get them to work for me.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Some vendors are easier than others, and as has been said, higher powers are usually harder. If you look at writing on a page and see where the progression is, that can give you a good start on where to look. Holding it up to a light usually works, however, sometimes it will work better to look at the surface of the lens almost parallel to see them.

Also, being a high myope will help (I'm about a -7.00 in my worse eye). :bbg:
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.
