I understand why people want to import complete pair of RX from CHina because of the affordable price. (sorry! I cannot post the price here)

ON the other hand, I would warn ppl to be careful coz Chinese optical stores use demo lens as pattern to edge RX lens! PD might be imbalanced or way off!

As I know now only very small street corner optical stores are still using demo lenses to edge, which request pretty high for the craftsmanship of the opitcian to make things like PD right. Zenni and Firmoo are using highly automated machines which are not so expensive. Your story was of decade ago.

I am sure some big labs are buying gerbers and other European high end automations. I personally bought a few pairs of RX AR SV reader from Shanghai Optical City near Shanghai train center and Wu Yang Optical City in GuangZhou. THey do use demo lens to edge right in front of me and that was less than a year ago! The retail price I paid was 1/2 off from Zenni.com

I am not trying to address all Chinese made are all bad! However, I would suggest lab jobs must be inspected via certified Q/A company with optical knowledge to ensure the quality standard. and again, I would only comment this issue at this board only because Optiboard is a true website for optical professionals only, not for those 100,000 glasses shoppers in China!

I don't recall ever saying you should give any president respect. I do have some for Harry Truman, Teddy Rosevelt, George Washington, and Dwight D. Eisenhower. More for having the cahonies to do what was right and stand up for thier decisions. Probably a few other good ones over the last few centuries. But a lot I wouldn't walk across the street to speak to.
I do occasionally have a weak moment for lots of them having to put up with the scrutiny and criticism that goes with the job.
Don't know who president schrub was.
