    EMR suggestions

Anyone have any feedback, comments, or suggestions regarding EMR's in a new OD's office? Maxim Eyes SQL and Revolution are the two primary software programs we are looking into. Thanks!

We -will be- using the compulink software. We're a single doctor practice and he isnt ready for the transition yet. I know they're fully certified and their customizations for any situation is unbelievable.

We use it for most of the practice now, and from what I've seen the emr module is impressive. I just need to twist the doc's arm a little more to get him to use it.

I know it's not much info, but maybe you have not heard of it and it will shed some light.

I think a lot of it depends on the size of the organization, the computer savvy of the doc and employees, along with what features you specifically want for it to include. The last time I did this for an office, we went with My Vision Express because it was easy to learn, the doc could follow the exam portion w/o a bunch of windows popping up, and they were willing to customize it to our office. I know of others where they helped develop interfaces for equipment to automatically populate the exam portions pertinent to that test..

Its been a while since I tried Maxim Eyes, I recall it being fairly easy to walkthrough, but cost wise wasn't as much for the buck as MVE. Never heard of Revolution..

Thank you for your replies. We have not heard of MVE, but will check it out for sure.

    My Vision Express software

    Traci,

I see that a couple of our fans have chimed in already. By all means check out My Vision Express. It features an excellent Inventory module that's integrated with order processing and reports.

I'm in the same boat. Looking mainly at myvisionexpress, crystal practice management, office mate. EMR is very important for me and I want a system that will not slow me down. I assume that for scheduling, billing etc they're all similar. I think that company clout and longevity are also critical, and Officemate has a definite edge there (being owned by vsp).

We started a new practice last year and after performing due diligence on performance, scalablity, HIPAA compliance, support and cost it was an easy decision and we went with Revolution EHR. One of the most important aspects was that were wanted to go paperless and offsite storage of patient info was key. We didn't want liability of any kind. In addition, it's web based which makes it extremely easy to manage offsite. If you have an existing EHR system you can migrate the data as well, Revolutions data schema is fairly generic making it easier for data mappings.
