    Forgotten Bond

That would be George Lazenby (not sure if thats the correct spelling) who played Bond in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"

I didn't think he was too bad but obviosly someone thought otherwise.:D

    Timothy Dalton?????

Okay, you cannot vote for Timothy Dalton and NOT leave a post explaining your rationale (e.g., you're his mother, or some other equally arbitrary reason).

Good grief, when I see a James Bond flick is going to be on and then notice that its "The Living Daylights," I think "That's not a REAL Bond film!" (although the cello player WAS a cutie).
    ;)

If some industrious soul who knows the proper names of all the 007 films would like to venture it, it would be interesting to see what 007 movie is the OptiBoard favorite. That would be a tough one to decide on, but I'd probably have to go with "The Spy Who Loved Me." That is the one with "Nobody Does It Better" as its theme song, isn't it?

Dalton was my least favorite Bond. I didn't see the one with Lazenby.

I like the other 3 Bonds each for different reasons. However I have to say that Sean Connery is my favorite one, probably because I like him as an actor and have enjoyed him in virtually every role I've seen him in.

For me it was a toss up between Roger Moore & Sean Connery. So i based it on who i would like to see do another 007 film. And for the most part i believe Mr Connery could still pull it off.

It was horrible but seems to me that there was a flick with 7 James Bonds. One of which was David Niven, and I think Peter Sellers may have been one. This movie was easily forgotten.

You're thinking of Casino Royale, also has Woody Allen, Orson Welles and a host of brillliant actors in a messy film to say the least.

Lazenby wasn't canned, he decided he didn't want to be type cast and turned down the Bond franchise!!!:hammer:

Dalton was OK but he had the misfortune to hit Bond at a time of mucho political correctness.

Moore became a caricature,Brosnan is OK and getting better but the early Connery's are hard to beat. (You can believe he had a license to kill)

    Jenny,

I MUST agree. From a feminine perspective, it HAS to be Sean Connery. The man truly is a great actor, but he has something else as well. A certain appeal. Just plain makes a person feel good.

Okay, we still don't know who voted for Dalton...

Actually, I've thought up a plot for a 007 film. In my film, Connery would come back as the villian, and Brosnan would be 007.

Basically, Sean has decided that Scotland should be its own country again (since I believe he IS from Scotland). Using the internet, he somehow steals a thermal plasma device (or some such sinister thing) and threatens to blow-up the moon. Thing about blowing up the moon is that life on earth would probably come to an end (no tides, changes in weather, etc.).

It might be interesting to make the villian come out on top for once, kill James Bond (who saves the earth in the process of dying), and thus have the elder Bond bring the series to a conclusion.

Now I just have to figure out who my "Bond women" will be...

Sean Connery used to be my favorite actor, but having been exposed to more and more of his films, I think that Anthony Hopkins (who is Welsh, I believe) has to edge him out slightly. The guy is great in every role he plays!

    Believe it or not........

Pete, Believe it or not, the James Bond you are missing is David Niven who played the first Bond on film in Casino Royale.

Connery hands down and no contest, was the definitive Bond.........James Bond!(I love to say that, as well as "shaken not stirred.")

I agree with your assesment of Anthony Hopkins. My favorite Hopkins performance is "Remains of the Day" One of the best performances of all time on film.
I wish I had time to see a flick today!

    Just my personal opinion.

Sean Connery is THE James Bond.
Although I think Connery is by far more versatile as an actor, having watched most all of the 007 movies repeatedly, I think Roger Moore brings out the Britishness of the role better. Moore was just superb at plunking in that dry one-liner at just the right moment. Also, he's the one who was cast in the Bond films that involved time in America (e.g., Live and Let Die), and its just hilarious to watch him interact with the sterotypical "Bubba" policeman character.

One of the biggest Bond disappointments was Brosnan, in my opinion. Having watched him as a teenager in "Remington Steele," I kept thinking "now HE would make a great James Bond!" Then he gets the role and he was, well, disappointing (at least in Golden Eye). I think this last movie (The World is Not Enough) is probably his best effort.

Anyone know when is the next Bond movie due to be released?

    Question Question For Pete.

Do you think Sean Connery could still be a possible candidate to star once again in a 007 film?

Doesn't it depend on what type of film you enjoy?

I liked Roger Moore because the films featured heavily on humour, where as Pierce Brosnan is smoother, more polished and Sean Connery was, well, Sean Connery- very good.

    Let's not mention the others!

I don't think it's fair to judge them against one another because all the films went for different approaches.

As I recall, Connery did a "swan's song" James Bond film where he portrayed an aging 007 (Never Say Never Again, which is an "unofficial" Bond movie as it was released by Warner Bros. not United Artists). I think he's a bit old to play 007 now, but like I said, I wouldn't mind seeing him return as a villian or maybe even as "M."

Did anyone else find it eerie that "Q's" (Desmond Llewelyn's) last words in the last Bond movie were "You always have to have an escape strategy?" Of course, he died not too long after that in a freak accident.

I really like the American they have representing the CIA in the latest 007 flicks. His whole "Hey, Jimbo!" persona is humorous!

By the way, the next Bond film "Die Another Day," is projected for release on 22 November 2002, and will feature Halle Berry as "Jinx" (the newest Bond girl). John Cleese will be the new "Q," and "M" will again be Judi Dench.

I voted for Brosnan. I feel he brings out more emotion in the character of James Bond. He would be a perfect Bond especially if they decide to explore the darker, depressed kind of Bond I feel Ian Flemming always ment him to be. The next film will be in theatres Nov 22nd..

I have seen a lot of James Bond movies, but Sean Connery is all the suave and sexiness of James Bond all in one. I would, too follow him to the ends of the earth.

Even older and bald he still has it going on! ;)

Since you women have been gushing about your infatuation with Sean Connery (who, btw, at 6'3" is the tallest 007), I thought I would post my favorite Bond women...

Now, for "extra credit," who are these beauties, what were their "Bond" names, and what movies were they in?

    Bond trivia:

"Tommorrow never dies" was originally going to be called "Tommorrow never lies" (The newspaper of the media magnate being titled "Tommorrow") but there was a misprint in one of the publicity faxes and they prefered the new title.

There is also a rumour that "Licence to Kill" was originally titled "Licence revoked" but there was some concern that the American market wouldn't know what revoked meant!

Best one I heard was that they retitled "The Madness of King George III" "The Madness of King George" because they were worried the American audience wouldn't go and see it because they hadn't seen "The Madness of King George" I and II.

Sorry nothing to do with Bond :D

I believe the film 'Pret A Porter' was released in the US as 'Ready To Wear', so that American audiences would realise it was in English. :)

    Anyway........

I think the best all-round James Bond is Roger Moore, probably because he's the first one I saw in the role.

The best looking James Bond is Pierce Brosnan. This is a non-disputable fact.

The best Bond film is OHMSS, even though it has the worst AND ugliest James Bond in it.

The best Bond Theme is A View To A Kill, by Duran Duran, with honourable mentions to Tina Turner's Goldeneye. (That sounds rude!)

The best Bond Girl name is Pussy Galore.
