No, this is not another incredibly useless thread from that weird guy night train who, for some reason (even though he has no ties to the optical business community) continuouly visits this forum. Im sorry but this time Im just angry. If I would sit and think about it, I could probably come up with about 30 VERY SERIOUS problems our world faces today in about 5-10 minutes of just writing the first ones that came to mind. Or, if instead, I decided to write out probable statistics on things like hunger, disease, war, sanitation, or education in third world countries.....well...it wouldnt be too long until I was very depressedd and overwhelmed at the horror in those statistics....the names and faces behind those statistics. Or (lets just narrow this down a bit) if I were to, oh, I dont know, say, make a list of issues facing my children's generation as they become the moms & dads and leaders of tomorrow....I would not be very excited to see what I would find in that "legacy". In short, if you take just a second, to see the point of view where the "glass is half empty", its a very disheartening view. Certainly Unsurmountable. But, little bit by little bit, Things CAN be done. I am not of the mindset of the late George Harrison who said "if we could all just achieve a higher state of consciousness, then all of our problems could be solved". But where and how will these problems be solved? And who will rise up to do there part? Up until today, I suppose I was in some sort of a fantasy land about one particular party whom I believed would help our nation. I am speaking of our system of courts and laws. I think I actually believed that our judges would be leaders who would stand against evil and do heroic things. But what are our judges working so diligently at these days? Read this:

How does something like this even get an ear? For crying out loud. I took my kids on a train ride to Philadelphia two weeks ago. While we were at the train station, we decided to go in the gift shop. My four year old...let me say that again myFOUR year old...who just happened to be turning 4 on that very day...walked over to the magazine rack and began showing his older brother all of the pornographic covers on the shelf. (he seemed particularly fond of large breasts- a quirk he did not get genetically) ;) But I thought to myself....OK, I believe in free speach. This stuff should be allowed to be printed and marketed and sold. But for crying out loud, Dont I have the right to NOT have to see it? Couldnt our courts work on laws to help our families be families and do family things without having to protect our children from pornography in a gift shop that sold Thomas The Tank Engine Toys? Am I supposed to just accept "naked and notty vixons" as just another product on the shelf to be sold next to a box of Fruit Loops? Have you seen what children get to see at the supermarket check out line? And what of the media? Does the Washington Post really need to Inform me that a state superior court has ruled on the name CHICKEN BUTT ? Isnt there something else to report? Read this report:

about ONE little tiny country in west africa and there are at least 100 stories to follow that have incredible ramifications on hundreds of thousands of people. But will we see any of these stories in the washington post? And thats one of our Better papers! Turn on the news last night and what was the Big story? Every camera in Los Angeles was trained on a little white car carrying a has been actor off to jail. A story that had practically no relevance to about 99.9999999999% of the entire world. Im sorry but, this makes me sick.
