Confused A Bad Love Triangle; Tracer, Vision Web and Linux

We have a Gerber Coburn Triumph Tracer and our office has decided to go with a new Linux operating system. We used to have a great synergy with Vision Web, able to trace our frames and order our lenses through the net.
Now that we have gone from Windows to Linux, we don't have a program to read the information the tracer is sending to our computer for Vision Web.

    Any solutions?

The Innovations and Tracemeister programs don't work on Linux, those programs are made to work with a Windows operating system.

Sorry to say, but you should have checked OS limitations beforehand. I wish I could help. Can you get a Windows emulator to run that in?

I checked, you can get WINE to run your Windows programs in Linux.

PM Shanbaum here on Optiboard. He'll know if anyone will.
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

    couple of options

Wine is by far the 'easiest' tho tweaking your config to get it to work with some programs needs testing. Depending on your distro it could be as easy as sudo apt-get install wine

There is also VMware, it is not a free alternative, however, it will 'most likely' work flawlessly.

    VirtualBox

I use VirtualBox extensively for running Windows apps under Linux. It will give you access to all of your ports and peripherals needed to access the trace data.
