Some Japanese optical company came up with a similar hydrophilic lens coating which then was tested by fire departments throughout Japan. The result was that the hydrophilic lens surface would get tired of absorbing water, (that is the effect of anti fogging lenses) , and the project was abandoned as impossible to achieve. I am not surprised that somebody else has come up with some new ideas, but so far nobody has actually gone any further than the Japanese did to make it permanent. After 4 to 6 month it becomes ineffective.
I have made trials for many years without any success until 2 years ago when we made a coating that while becoming ineffective after a while could be renewed by taking the lenses out of the frame and exposing them to microwaves for 2 minutes.
