Tired of the #itching!

There is a lot of complaining and whining because of the erosion of our profession. We want others to fight for our rights. Smell the coffee and get off your behind because we are the only ones who can do it! It has been a year since I posted "State of Our Profession " part 1,2& 3 over a year ago. Tell me in that time have things got better or worse?

When I fractured my wrist and had to wear a cast for 16 weeks, I got "tired of the itching!" Ok, back to the thread.
The problem with this "profession" (and I use the term loosely) is that there are far far more people in it with little to no qualifications than there are fully qualified Professionals. For most, its a job and nothing more.

My thoughts only......I see some light at the end of the tunnel. Education is now being viewed in a more positive light. New organizations are taking some initiatives to help us improve, and I only hope it is a precursor of good things to follow. Opticianry is a great career, and the profession can improve if we simply take the initiative. As long as we remain status quo, that will not happen, but mark my words........the times they are a'changin'.

Here in Nebraska, there are more and more offices that will ONLY hire those who have some sort of a certification. There are also other offices where you do not have to be certified at the time of hire, however, they will put you through training.

I had an itching problem.......got rid of it by changing to a different laundry soap!
