As an out of network provider, the check was never yours...in a sense. I offer to bill insurances out of network for patients and refund the patient if and when I get a payment from their insurance. The patient must pay me in full, first. I'm in network for VSP, so I can't speak for VSP specifically, but any out of network insurances I've dealt with I learned long ago that I'm not getting paid.
Unless you are part of a special VSP program (out of network that are allowed to "accept assignment" like Costco etc) Then the reimbursement will always go to the patient.
Pez:D
Starting in Oct VSP now allows patient to assign out of network benefits to the provider of their choice even walmart. But they are sending the check to patient by mistake according to the vsp rep. Thats what I'm having a problem with.

On paper it is Great.
agree
We've submitted to VSP as an out of network provider and we've rec'd the checks from them & they were not sent to the patient.
