    Does anyone know?

Has anyone here heard anything of Lux acquiring IRIS? I wouldn't believe it, but just wondering if anyone else has heard anything

Not even our friends next door have a notion, and they smell the bad stuff usually very fast.

Thanks Chris. I was looking for the site, but couldn't remember the exact name.

I doubt it. I mean anything could happen, but I really seriously doubt it.

Iris hates Lux. It is one of the two brands that the company will not carry. Plus, there is a lot of franchising issues that I think Lux would not like.

I highly doubt it. That website of rumours is a joke and hardly credible. My monkey gives better predictions.

Lux is currently in no position for a major acquisition. They are struggling now and are having a challenging time trying to get what they already have firing on all cylinders.

Anyone heard about Lux terminating the leases of MANY OD's this year? I know of at least six, mostly in the GTA not renewed.

Haven't heard but seems logical. They are really pushing the Pearle franchise thing. I've been contacted twice already - cha ching!

I heard that they are switching to an employee model in anticipation of optometrist reg. changes. Last year one long-time OD leasee was trying to sell his Lux office at the same time Lux was advertising an opening for the same office 3 months down the road. Would have been a tough sell.

Haven't heard that but they have let go a number of there RM's and Sears Optical is letting people go left and right and most are your experienced people. Sears hasn't caught on that it cost more to hire and train then it does to keep your experienced people. Most of the time when you have RM's who are inexperienced are the ones making those moves and it's going to bite them in the butt. :hammer:

Contrary to belief Lux is sitting on close to $1 billion in cash ($750 M) to be exact. The one key segment in Canada that Lux is missing is a low-end discount operation. Look for acquisitions to potentially take place in the second half of 2012. There are about 6-8 such retailers across Canada with 6-28+ locations each that would be potential targets for Lux A&M machine.
