    Seiko Surmount

I have recently received a new pair of glasses for myself. Previously I found the Superceed to be the best freeform(yes I tried, Nikon, Essilor and Zeiss) and this was the lens we recommended the most. But the new Surmount is the best lens I have ever worn. I have a high plus Rx, the Surmount lenses are two diopters flatter. Previously when I tried to switch to a lower base curve, the lenses did look better but I didn't see as well. In addition to the cosmetics my field of vision is much wider, both distance and near. My rep says this is due to the variable inset (pd's 29.5 and 32), I finally have the same reading are in each eye. This is now our lens of choice!!!!

I am sure the lens is a great product, but variable inset is not new and the use of aspheric blanks is what helps the high plus wearer. The detail reps for Seiko know more about frames than lenses in the US; seems to be the same in Canada.

I agree that this lens should be the best prodcut for high plus patients; i tried to get for a +8 but she is out of range so far.

For most patients all free form lenses work well and they cannot tell the difference.

We also started usung Surmount recently. What an awesome product. Even dispensed it to a Zeiss Individual non adapt, the patient came back and ordered a second pair!!!!!
