    Digital Eye Lab

Has anyone used Optical Distributor Group's Digital Eye Lab?
We use them for our contacts but have not tried them for un-cut lenses. "They" claim for their Pal's (digital surfaced with their A/R), ordered by 5:00 PM they will be out the Fed X the next day.
What are your thoughts? and the quality of the product?

    Thanks for the input.

Yea they are fast and have good quality.

But i have not tried their branded lenses. I think there called G-Pal , Digital 5.0 or something like that.

I usually use Hoya FreeForms. But occasionally I use some Shamir and Seiko products from Digital Eye Labs and get them within a day or 2.

Their AR seems to be good, at least nobody has brought one back yet, and I have used them for about 2 years. ;)

Do you not work for a competitor of the entity in question? Why would you even post this? Sounds like sour apples to me. But as long as you brought it up; which is Luzerne - good, fast or cheap? Remember, you suggested it could be only one!

Wearing their Digital 5.0 Flex (? I think thats what its called!), extremely happy with them, prefer them to the Individual. They can do the higher cyl's and do them well (last pair they did for one of my patients was a 7cyl) as well as higer powers with high wraps. I think their turn around, considering the Rx's I was sending them, was decent. Pricing seemed average. They also use Autograph for some of their PAL lenses, as well as their own.

A man went to an eye specialist to get his eyes tested and asked, "Doctor, will I be able to read after wearing glasses?"
"Yes, of course," said the doctor, "why not!"
"Oh! How nice it would be," said the patient with joy, "I have been illiterate for so long."

They're way way better than Alot of other uncut ff labs ive used. Fast and good quality. Ar is similar to Alize+.
But the best part is that theyvwant to please and help you in any way they can.
No lab is perfect. But then neither am I.

Heck, i call Mr. Peter K there, who is a mathalete, for lens advice all the time.

    Good people.

How would you rate your lab that sent you that extremely wrong base curve?

Luzerne's work is excellent, not merely good.

Luzerne is competitively priced, not cheap.

Luzerne is a fast as possible and still provide the quality that our customers have come to expect.

You are a perfect example of why i do not order from Luzerne.

Unhelpful, condescending tone. It seems like alot of people over there are like you.

Talk to Peter K at Digital Eye Labs, You can see for yourself how helpful he is. Any question you want to ask he will try and answer. Without the attitude.

I have had very mixed results with Digital. I am currently having some serious issues that I am trying to get resolved. Management has been very responsive. Some of the issues have been quality related. Some have been customer service related. I have been in the business long enough, and have worked in a lab, to know that CACA happens. It happens to every lab.

It is how management handles the CACA that impresses me or turns me off. I am in a holding pattern with them at this point until my issues, and concerns are taken care of. I am reluctant to recommend them at this point.

I think overall that they do a fine job, do it quickly and at a fair price. I appreciate the variety of products that they offer. I have been pleased with their in-house progressives and AR coating.

I have been very pleased with Luzerne. I think they offer a very "FAIR" package of service, quality and price.

    About a weak 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. Why?

I may have to reconsider Luzerne. Years ago, they didn't work out for me!

    Try again?

I had a similar situation. I would hate to suggest you trying them, they fail, and you want to punch my nose in! As with most things in life, get educated before diving in, and proceed with optimistic caution!

I would suggest that if your current lab is not meeting your high expectations, and you can not get the issues resolved, go for it. I am not one to jump around from lab to lab. I look at the whole situation as a "relationship". If this "relationship" is on the rocks, you sit down and talk about it. You should seek counseling. If every attempt has been made to repair the "relationship", and no hope is in sight, don't be afraid to bail. I never look at these business "relationships" as we are "partners" though. I run my business, and I don't need no stinkin' partners!

Life is too short for bad "relationships".

Fezz your too wise brother. If you've exhausted all options with your current lab or they no longer meet your needs then its time to start the search. Switching labs is not an easy task and should not be taken lightly. Start with your slowest day per week going to your new lab. Call and ask if they stock your pafticular lens of choice. Make sure that they use your particular shipper of choice. Ask them when the cut off for the last job going out is. If everything goes well with your slow days start rewarding your new lab with additional days. After you reach the half way mark call and talk to the big wigs at the new lab and gell them your ready for the switch over completely and let them know your expectations and ask how they are going to meet those expectations. When you are fully switched for a full month call them back and give them feedback onwhere they have succeeded and where they can improve. The lab isn't your opticals partner, you are the labs partner we work for you and want to know how we can do it better but we need your feedback both good and bad. Good luck with your choices and remember their are too many good labs out there to settle on mediocre.
