    Confused Ncle

Hi I am looking for any advice on taking the NCLE I only decided about 3 weeks ago and am registered to take in November. I have only been in the field a short time. I am currently working as a cltech but am not sure I am ready for the exam any suggestions out there.

You can come out to Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA and take BC College of Optics' three (3)-month intensive 'Contact Lens Only' program. It begins January 4th, 2011 and requires no Student VISA for US citizens. You will really know Contact Lenses, both practical and theoretical, and also have the requisite knowledge to pass the NCLE Advanced exam if you choose.

Thanks for your response I am most nervous about the fitting questions for RGP's I am only a few months into my current position and my OD does most of the calculations. Your words of encouragement will help:bbg:

I have been reading the manuel over and over. The answers to the questions in the manuel are not available so there are a few I am not sure if my answers are correct, any clues?

There is MORE... a lot more. Basic NCLE is the beginning, not an end to learning. To be considered qualified in Contact Lenses, you will need to pass the NCLE Advanced. And to be considered even better-qualified, go on and pass the the CLSA Fellow practical exam.
Passing your NCLE means you can now drive in a parking lot, but not on the expressway. I blame the licensed states with 2-year AAS Opticianry programs that still insist on requiring AAS graduates to sit these two (2)minimum competency ABO & NCLE exams rather than the Advanced exams before registration for licensure. The opticianry school exams are at least 10X more rigerous that ABO and NCLE.:hammer:

Don't be scared. I took it in May 2009 and I forgot to study and wouldn't need to take it if I kept my CE credits current. I passed , barely, because the test was heavily laden with anatomy . So study your anatomy.

Just study all you can as much as possible. Even the trivial things you think wont matter learn those.
More importantly learn basic concepts like s.a.m and f.a.p knowing concepts like that will help you to answer more questions. I will not lie the NCLE was absolutely the hardiest test I ever took. Some people fail 4 times. Just never give up, do your best, and keep a good attitude.
