    Trying to get things started...

    Hello all!

I am open to any advice or suggestions I know experience is the best teacher so please share yours. I am planning on buying a lab equipment and lens stock. As it stands now it is doing okay nobody is getting rich though. So the way I see it there's two ways to run a lab I could do work for local doctors but I realize that with the insurances out there now a small indepent lab has zero chance getting anywhere that way. The other option is to have an optical shop with a lab. Which is the route I'm leaning towards. I would like to add a doctor. What's the best way of doing that? Should I get the exam lane equipment and rent the sapce and equipment to the doctor or does the doctor supply his own stuff? Should I pick a location and then look for a doctor or find a doctor and get his or her input?

Sorry for the lengthy post but like I said any advice or even a "don't do it" will be appreciated.

So.. any doctors looking for a lab or a part time gig in south central PA email me.;)

Skip the lab get an optical with a doctor and when the need arises add the lab later. Just the thought process of wanting a lab first would make me run not walk away from this venture. I would concurrently look at locations and demographics, while talking to doctors getting a feel of whos out there and what they are looking for. I live in Shrewsbury, PA so if your interested in meeting up and talking, I have a lot of advice I could share.
