    Anti Fatigue Lenses

Anyone selling these? Who do you sell them to? Why? Try them yourself? I think I like the concept?

Used since launched.....The "Training Bra" for "before" first time multifocal wearers. Great for anyone that does intense, prolonged close work for a living, but just isn't quite ready for a +1.00 add.

I received some information about these a few months ago, and I really do like the idea, but I haven't fit one yet. In our office, we see Convergence Insufficiency so often, and the doctors prescribe BI prism lenses, usually with a little bit of correction too. The lens I use most often is +0.50, 0.50 BI OU. I keep a stock of prism lenses (automatically with A/R; I don't really give them a choice not to have it unless they bring it up). And the docs prescribe this kind of Rx to patients of all ages, not just the kiddos. So that's what I do instead. :/
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

I have been wearing them for a few years. I am 28 and noticed the effect. Mainly, my eyes do not feel nearly as sore at the end of the day.

I and another optician in my office both tried it. The other op thinks they're great. He's around a -2.25 OU. I don't really see an appreciable benefit, but I'm in the -7.50 range, so that +.60 boost is really almost within tolerance for my distance RX. We don't dispense it often, and never to people with high distance RX.

I've fitted a few, one of my techs loves them for when she doing plugs and another one of our opticians loves loves loves them. I have only fit one actual paying patient, a gentleman who strictly uses them for laptops but wanted something he could wear around the office....so far so good!

A man went to an eye specialist to get his eyes tested and asked, "Doctor, will I be able to read after wearing glasses?"
"Yes, of course," said the doctor, "why not!"
"Oh! How nice it would be," said the patient with joy, "I have been illiterate for so long."

I've had them on. It's nice. What's the difference between this and a +0.75 progressive? Not a lot, except price.

Yes, essilor is the genius, here.

They're a pain with vision plans, as they're classified as SV lenses and VSP makes us use the dreaded "special lens procedure".

Conclusion: a nice lens, but +0.75 progressive is just as nice without making a big fuss in your protocol.

MUCH cheaper than a +0.75 progressive of any kind. We only add $25 to our SV charge for it.

The big minus I forgot to mention is that the alignment marks are HUGE and VERY visible from inside the lens. A massive distraction for me when driving at night.

I think I saw a ton of progressives with 0.75 add for sale on the Fleabay!

Just put a pair on an optician who is in the -4.00 range, almost thirty years old and has been reading under her glasses. She loves them. Also, one of our OD's with a plano RX is wearing and loves them. Wish Hoya made a similar lens.

from what i have heard from reps from both hoya and zeiss, they both have a competitive lens coming.

i liked the idea of the anti fatigue lens so much i ordered a pair of individuals with plano distance and a 1.25 add

If you're into freeform, both IOT and Crossbows have software for them.

Way back in the dark ages, we used +.50 add execs, in glass of course. Now I see that X-cel has +.50 add in D-28 and 35. Slide them a bit to give some base in prism and you've got an anti-fatigue lens. Don't really need an expensive progressive since you'll only wear them for close work anyway.

Hoya does. At lest in Europe. We´ve been dispensing their "Nulux Active" with .53 och .75 add for a couple of years now...

I just called my hoya lab, and they said the nulux active isn't available in the US, just Europe and Canada. Interesting.

Sounds very similar to an Office lens (which I wear all over the office and house from TV to laptop)

Just realized, the adds are .53 and .88, sorry...

When I compare the optical market in Sweden with the one in the U.S. it seems that there is a lagg both regarding lenses, contact lenses and frames.... Strange...

Bummer. We did three Anti-fatigues last week and I would always rather sell Hoya product.
