We saw how some of the people were fooled by Obama and his very unspecific motto of "change" ! He changed things alright! I know about the lobbyist in DC, while I do not believe every lobbyist is wrong thoug! However Crongress was not made to be a career for those in office! well we could talk till were blue in the fingers! enjoyed the conversation with everyone! Later

I hate to think of the surprise of the Liberals and socialist if the Tea Party and GOP do not stop Obama and his socialist agenda this Nov. It is not a game! So... what? The Repuplicans will rise up and have a revolution? Wasn't that predicted at the last election? Doesn't seem likely to me.
    And there's my 2 cents.

This just pisses me off. While there are certainly people who take advantage of welfare, there are those who truely need it. For example, disabled people? Are you including this in your "all types of welfare?"

I see you're all at it again. When do you all find time to work between all the lobbying and where can I get signed up for it. Anyone ever think that it's this kind of bickering between ourselves that keeps us off our guard so that we can't possibly get a clue about what's really going on? I can tell you this much, when I was just a kid, my mothers uncle was a Senator from Missouri for about 15 years during the 60's-ish (a democrat) and it was in those circles that I learned a valuable lesson; never make the mistake of thinking the people we elect are actually running the country. We have these two political belief systems that we all wind up buying into. We pick one like we do our favorite sports team and then adopt most/all of their stances and wait for the superbowl every election cycle to see who wins.

If you are on one side of the fence and sit still long enough to actually listen to the other side a lot of times you find out that you're a lot closer to agreement than you'd think. At some point we're going to have to realize it's not Republicans against Dems it's us against them.

Your ignorant statement about wealthy conservatives amuse me! and wealthy liberals just want everyone to live in peace and happiness?? You have a warped view of conservatives I know a few wealthy conservatives and they are the kindest people you will ever meet. they expect people to work for a living just as they have done! nothing wrong with that!
You talk about killing the economy off with taxes, but you embrace a strategy to cut government spending which will cost the economy government jobs.

Let's look at the different types of welfare:
    - Pension. Something that you, as a citizen pay into your whole life. You get a small cheque from the government at the end of the year
    - Employment Insurance - Something as a worker, you pay into every year. If you get laid off, for a limited time, you get some insurance before you get your next job (and the key thing is the limited time)
    - Disability Insurance - You physically cannot work, and thus you need money to live. Take my sister for instance. She has narcolepsy and MS. If she does not take her MS drugs, she will become handicap. She cannot take her narcolepsy drugs, because they interfere with her MS drugs. So she randomly passes out. She cannot work, because she cannot pass out at work four times a day.

Now, you want to get rid of those? if you do, you may as well just move your nation to Ethiopia, because you will have that much poverty on your hands. These are situations where someone really cannot work anymore, not because of lack of desire.

Now there is general welfare, but in the US, you can only receive it for 5 years maximum. Not five continuous years, but five years.

There is also abuse, but not everyone is abusing it. Probably only a small percent.

I certainly hope you don't believe the drivel that says the Senate passed healt care laws and they have their own superior health plan.

Libs crack me up. You guys say crazy stuff like Reagan and Bush raised the deficit so high. Well Oblah blah has raised the deficit more than those 2 combined, and dont try the old saying about we had to spend more to get out of that hole. That kind of talk is insane. Reagan created the biggest economic growth in the history of the USA.

Lets talk about Bush. Libs blame everything on Bush. Now I'm not a big Bush fan BUT

Who has been in control of spending since 2007? Yup the libs. Dummycrats have been in control since 07. Thats about the time when everything in this country went to crap. Gas prices went from under $2 a gallon to over 2 sometimes over $3. Housing crashed because of fanny and freddie. My insurance premiums went up about 20% and Obama wants more time saying it was Bushes fault. Well wasn't he the guy that said he could fix it?

I cant believe that people want more government in their lives. Heres whats coming from our friends the dummycrats.

Go look at the documents and lives of the founding fathers and their view about God! You cannot seperate a man from what he believes, and when a man says he does not believe in God that is a religion also! it is called Humanism. The Bible was where they got the system and order of government to FYI.

Not because they disagree with me, They disagree with History! They are trying to change it why should I listen to their lies?

They deny that all men are created equal, they deny that an unborn baby is a human life, Two very basic truths in which liberals deny. One that gets me is that "We are a democracy." NO we are a Republic! The mob does not rule, (Democracy); under a Republic it is the law of the land in which dictates to us how things will be and the laws are made by the people and for the people.

I never heard of a revolution by the republicans over the last election, I did hear about some threats if Obama did not win that were made by some people! but it does not surprise me that some said the same if he won! People are stupid!

No revolution from the Republicans but when the Federal government is the one who says how many chidlren you can have, how much money you can make and keep, what kind of car you will drive, and they control everything you do I believe that will surprise a lot of people!

    enjoyed the discussion!

Never mind that cap and trade is already dead. Or I suppose you don't think so because you don't listen to actual news, not Faux News.

First thanks for keeping the discussion going without too much name calling which is a sure way to lock a thread.

Now the campaigning Obama as I recall mentioned over and over letting the tax cuts expire on the wealthiest 2% of taxpayers. I also remember him railing against an insurance industry more interested in profits than patients and it had to be changed. Let's see- what's next- oh Wall Street needed to be reined in along with new or better enforced environmental issues. Corporations receiving tax breaks who then move jobs offshore should loose those breaks and the list goes on.

I see plenty of change! But will it last?

For now cap and trade is dead. Wait till after Nov 2.

Beside libs do not listen to the people. All they do is put a judge in there that does everything they say and throw out the will of the voters. Just like in Cali. Millions voted against gay marriage and 1 or 3 judges can over turn that vote? Communism

Things went to crap in 2001, not 2007. Actually, the first major mistake was removing the Glass Stegall Act in 2000

    Don't ignore history and facts.

If the will of the voters is to abolish the repubican party, you wouldn't want a judge to overturn it, would you?

Is that why over 40% of the "people" consider themselves Conservatives while only 20% say they are libs?

The will of the voters would never abolish the republican party... but libs would do it.. Like Chavez, Castro, Chairnman Mao ? eh.. comrade Thru the judicail system. Listen to Obama in his own words. He syas he knows he can not get his social justice stuff passed thru the people. He has to do it thru the judicial system
