    VSP and Maui Jim/Oakley

Learned the hard way today that on the 27th of September VSP started to allow full frame benefit coverage on Maui Jim and Oakley frames. Had a jerky pt argue with me earlier in the month that it was "unfair" that he could only use his WFA amount towards the frames he chose. He called today and smugly informed me that he had called VSP and they had told him they didn't understand why we wouldn't let him use his full frame benefits. My manager called VSP and that's when we found out about the switch. She then called the pt and told him he had only been "right" since the 27th. He just bought his Oakleys from me a moment ago saying, "I'm glad I was around to help you figure out everything". Bite me. You too VSP, for making me look stupid.

    I won't do it.

I don't care what VSP says. I have a contract with Oakley and Maui that very clearly states that I cannot discount these frames at all!

Not only that but is Maui or Oakley going to discount ME the buyer in anyway? NOPE. Full wholesale.

I'm with you Jana. Wonder what those companies think of what VSP is requiring them to do. Hmmm, phone calls me thinks.

I thought that was a "rule" through VSP that you cannot use a discounted frame with the insurance. Also, aren't we contracted to use "their" (VSP) labs? I thought perhaps they changed it to where MJ is a "contracted" VSP lab but I have yet to use the insurance towards it.

From what I understand, it is only the frames at this point. Oakley or Maui Jim lenses aren't part of the deal. Even so, my Maui guy is pretty candid about this kinda stuff. I wonder if he even knows!

Corporate Pearle's discount Maui's 35%. We told our rep. and got the "deer-in-the-headlights" look and no help with a discount off of wholesale.

At least you guys have an MJ rep. The rep for the Nebraska area territory quit in DECEMBER and we have yet to get a new one. All MJ says is "We're working on finding a replacement". Unfortunately, it makes me not want to even use MJ. We have 2009 catalogs and when I called the other day to get 2010, I got the "order from the rep" deal.

Why wait for a catalog? Why not just go to the showroom? They've got a "rep" on staff right there! Here you go:

I'm pretty sure, this isn't the first nor the last time, VSP will have a policy change and you're late getting the info. NCSpecs, give me a call...I need to learn too!!!
