Novamatic " The Edge 2" hand edger. Need replacement wheel.

I have a Novamatic "The Edge 2" hand edger. It has a gray colored diamond wheel. I cannot find a replacemnet wheel for this machine. I have found wheels but they are the brass colored wheels and I don't like them. The gray wheel gives a very nice finish dry pin beveling poly.
I don't have any demensions unless I take it part.

Anyone know where to find the wheel Im looking for?

The color of the wheel should make no difference. Bonded versus plated may. Get a bonded wheel and if the finish isn't smooth enough get a glass lens and edge the heck out of it and that will make a finer finish. You can always re dress the wheel if you don't like what you did

I think it's actually a gray ceramic wheel, not diamond.

I've never seen one with a ceramic wheel but a lot of stuff I've never seen.

I think that's from the old gray or white wheel era. You might check Inland Diamond Products, they might have one that will fit. I'm assuming it's a rather fine (as opposed to rough) wheel? Then maybe a 600 grit wheel of the proper diameter and shaft size would work. Now that I think of it, one of my hand edgers has a grayish diamond wheel, rather lighter colored than the gray ceramics.

    It's not a Ceramic, it's a Diamond.
I'll see if I can post up some pics of what I've got.

You may want to check with a lapidary supplier. Many times I find things cheaper there than at optical suppliers and with a wider selection.

Have you used any dressing sticks on it?

That does look like a 600 grit diamond wheel. I have one like it but without the groove.

Yes I have but now most of the wheel, which isn't visable in the pic, is down to the metal core.
I'll tyr some of the companies listed here and see what I find. Looks like I'll have to take some measurements to find a match.
I'll really liked this wheel, it did a great job pin beveling poly w/out using water. Dressed only everyt couple of months.
Sad to say, but someone took a steel bar to my wheel for a home project they were working on and ruined it. I bought the other hand edger with the brass looking wheel and I just don't like it very much. It doesn't produce a nice smooth pin bevel. It does do the job, just not well.

If it's the right size, I'd try it.

    The wheel came today.
It went on in 30 seconds.

It needed to be stoned at first. I've forgotten what a sharp wheel can do.

Works just like I wanted. It's a very nice wheel and only $95. Not bad at all.

LOL...funny. I just about flipped my lid when I saw him take that steel bar to the edger. He was trying to pin bevel a piece HARDENED steel with it.
    Priceless!

This new wheel looks good and does a good job. We'll see how it holds up to 100+ jobs a day.

Great! Just don't get too eager with the dressing stick, the plated diamonds are not very thick. You should not need to dress is but once maybe every five years at that usage. They last a long time.
