    Angry Optician, ABOC

I have a sola access lens that i just recieved from the lab when i spoke to them they told me to put in the reading rx and they would transpose it from that point. For some reason I'm still a bit confused as to what the rx should read on the lensometer.
The Rx was originally: OD +0.25 sph OS -1.25 sph w/ +2.00 Add OU.
When I ordered it at the lab i put in the reading RX as OD +2.25 OS +0.75.
What should come up on the lensometer?

With the Access lens, I only read the bottom portion in the lensometer. Yours (at the bottom) should read OD +2.25 OS +0.75. So what you got is correct. It probably has a "high" add of +1.25, so if you read the top, it would come to OD +1.00 OS -0.50.

It took me forever to get this down, but once you've got it, it's way easy.

Consider the original, full-time prescription, and figure total reading power. This is what you'll read at the bottom of the lens once you get it from the lab. Look at the watermark to check the add (it will either be +0.75 or +1.25). If you subtract that value from the total power of the bottom of the lens, that's what should read at the top of the lens. That's all you have to do!
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

The bottom should read od +225, os +75 --- the top should read either od +150 os plano; or od +100 os -050 depending on whether you specified the -0.75 or the -1.25 version. Which did you order? Or did you just let the lab choose? You should make the selection based on the patient's preferred working distance and ergonomic setup.

Many of the lenses in the following link show near variable power readings in the near zone, fitting cross and top of the lens. I hope this helps...
