Let's Shoot for 1500 Members!

Hello All!

I am putting out an optichallenge to all of you! Let's see if we can raise the Optiboard member count from the current:

Members: 1,468

To 1500! that's only 32 more members! Don't you have a friend in the business that you could invite to join? Everybody knows someone that could benefit from the board. Let's pass the word!

You can follow the count on the main forum board in the upper left corner!

I've passed the info on to several Opticians at our state convention. I also have informed the frame reps I see about the site. This should be a must site for all Optical professionals.

Great idea - exceept for one small thing. I'll probably be deleting some inactive accounts in the near future. I got about 100 bounced emails from the last newsletter mailing, each because the email address is no longer valid. I'll be looking through the membership files and delete the accounts with invalid email addresses and who have never posted on the Board.

Consequently the 1500 members mark may be a moving target for a while.

You aren't helping the cause. Is the valid e-mail a prerequisite for membership? Have any of the people with e-mail issues been posting recently? It may just be an oversite they didn't correct the address on the profile!

Yes, to register you need a valid email address. So far I've only removed members that have an invalid email address, registered more than 6 months ago and have never come back to visit the Board at any time in the last six months.

Membership is good. However we get much more value from members that particiapte - or at the very least visit the Board once in a while! :)

Steve i agree with the invalid email part....but the people who have never posted?. I may be wrong about this....maybe not. But the so called "lurker's" who never post but come here from time to time..... recognize the OB as a great source of info.

Lurkers are just fine. However you overlooked this part:

The only people I've deleted are ones that have never returned after registering more than six months ago. Therefore they're not even lurking!

But you dont need to register to view the board only to post, so if they are "lurkers" it wont make a diffrence to them.

Please acccept my apology then....i was not aware that you could browse the OB with out signing up and logging in. I was just basing it on the fact that once you were a member you could go about your business in "invisible mode".

Non-registered people have always been able to browse and read. They just can't post, search, or view the memberlist or member's profiles.

Actually i never have nor will i ever in the future.I like to be upfront with people.......Heck i didnt even know you could browse the OB with out even being a member.:D
