Still can't figure out why you would sell this lens. It doesn't turn dark in the car so the patient still needs sunglasses. I think we would be better off just dispensing a second pair of polarized.

We love the product here in Florida, it gets very dark at 95 outside. Transitions do not work over 90 and we have had good success with the product. It does not replace clear or polarized, but it does serve a nice niche product that is far superior to regular Transitions for most folks.

You would sell it if a patient walked in and said they'd like a darker Transition and they don't mind if it doesn't get completely clear in doors.....

It's a niche product, and one that you'd probably only sell if a patient asked for it (or actually needed it, but that would be much more rare). They'd be great for those patients that always want a light tint to their lenses.

The question is, if you can sell it, why wouldn't you?
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

I've been giving these lenses to patients as sport lenses, (cycling lenses or outdoor sports)

By the way, the only PALs out right now are Image and Autograph.

Zeiss, i've been waiting for the last 3 months for them to come out with a xtractive version.
My patient got a Autograph 2 variable instead.

??? There are plenty of other PAL's available in Xtractive. Just follow the link at TheLensGuru.com from the original post.

Hello. I also sell the XTRA active transis. The customers really like them and many ask for them , besides the dr.'s I work with are prescribing them more and more. We mostly use Image. Sure wish it was avalible in more materials and lens styles.

I've sold one pair, and the person really liked them. Even if I tried I think I'd only sell, at most, one a month though. Very niche.

Definitely niche unless you live in an area with a high percentage of geriatrics. In this case, it can be an extra wrinkle to your sales. Still not as common as regular transitions, but it has been a hit with pts that want something similar to photograys. Plus, they do work SOMEWHAT in a car. They are partially activated by visible light vs UV only so they will work some in the car.

We are selling it and just ask them if they want the lighter or darker Transitions; most men pick darker and ladies pick the lighter one as they don't like the tint indoors while men do not care.
I have my windows in my car tinted and they do not turn at all!! They are decent for walking around, but they are not sunglasses in the Florida summer.

I usually ask pts if they're interested only if they are going to be getting progress. or sv with either poly, H.I. or trivex . It's so limited at present. I know more folks would buy it if not for that. Other then that , the dr's will allow these folks these materials so they CAN get the trans xtra. I work for a VA and the VA allows only certain materials and such.
