    High power progressives

I am looking for a progressive lens through hoya, zeiss, or pech optical in as high an index as possible for this RX

    -17.00 -1.75 099
    -16.75 -2.50 100
    1.00 ADD

lined bifocals are an option, but if a PAL is available that would be a little better just for the range of use.

    anyone know of anything?

Well, if you don't mind not limiting yourself to just those labs/vendors:

    ICE-TECH @888-423-8324

You can PM AWTECH here on optiboard as well. They have an excellent reputation and can do some amazing things. A very nice Free Form progressive in that Rx should be no problem for them.
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

    A 1.00 add????
Sorry, but that will be totally useless. When I was that high of a minus I could not even FIND that add unless it was around +2.00.

But, even though Hoya has this really nice 1.70 index material, they won't go that high. AWTECH can most probably do that,(see if they can do it in 1.70 instead of 1.67 or 1.74 due to crappy ABBE values those materials have) but I would check with the Dr to see about bumping that add.

we can bump it to a 1.50

he was trial with a 1.00 up to a 1.50 and there was similar acuity, the 1.50 might be easier to get and cut, so that might be the route we take with it.

man, i figured i would get a few more suggestions... isnt this the type of situation that we all hope for?

Hoya rep coming in this morning to discuss options and give me a few vouchers for this job just in case it turns ugly. I will still probably go with Zeiss though, i trust them with high RXs alittle more.
