We are considering a Nidek/Santinelli ME-1000 Design Series Multifunction Edger.
We have been familiar with Topcon in the past.
Opinions and feedback welcomed.

Check out the Mr Blue from Essilor that was introduced at VEE in March. I compared the two machines and in my humble opinion and experience this new machine has finally addressed all the issues when edging most lenses. It mills those slippery AR lenses to get rid of slippage issues, does a shelf bevel for wrap sunglasses (automatically), has real automatic blocking and drilling.
Santinelli or National Optronics, although AIT makes a good edger too.
We've been using the the ME-1000 for about 3 years now, and other than the standard maintanence, it's been great. We run about 100 jobs a day through it, all materials except glass. We have the fully upgraded software package, as well as the Click software to run the Chemestrie clip ons.
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.
The ME1000 has all the features you need in one easy machine. You will be pleasantly surprised at the ease of use and all the functions it can perform.
You wont be sorry you bought it!!
It’s so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don’t say it.
Another vote for the ME1000. Tricked out Optronics 7 isn't bad either - but the polish will be lacking due to that tiny wheel.
