Daniel Givone and Pierre Tortajada - Just One for Babik 2011

Only Givone could give this piece so very much power, swing, and emotion. Enjoy.

An amazing rendition of “Classical Gas”. Mind blowing precise, flawless performance. The harmonics thrown in, headstock bend. I don’t know if I’ve seen a better performance on an acoustic guitar before..

My favorite musical artist is Tim Bergling aka Avicii (RIP). One of his biggest hits, "Levels" samples this amazing tune by Etta James:

I had this performance in my queue! It's from a Dallas TV show called The !!!! Beat. Clarence Brown was the band leader. He signed an LP when I saw him at Century Hall (we lived kitty-corner from the hall) in beer town.

That was the closest I got to Jimi Hendrix (Billy Cox was Brown's bass player on this show).

We used to sing x-rated rock, especially when a brown bottle showed up. But yeah, he wasn't much of a lyricist. When I read that he was a Japanese POW, I had to dry my eyes, and listen a little closer to the music.

Thanks for posting this, Brother! I had the privilege of working with Sam and Dave many times over the years! In fact, Sam Moore is close friends with a dear friend of mine, Eddie Floyd. Eddie had a major hit with Knock on Wood (1966). He was with Stax and Atlantic Records, and wrote some material for many other artists, including Sam and Dave. He wrote a song he has given me permission to remake on my coming new CD with the group, I Aint Never Found A Girl! Eddie and Sam are neighbors, and they were to perform with us at the Carolina Beach Music Awrads show at Myrtle Beach last November. Unfortunately, a pending major storm disrupted their trip, but I am told they will be there this November at the Alabama Theater. We unfortunately lost Dave Prater to a terrible car accident in April of 1988. Eddie is 85, but can still Knock on Wood, and Sam is now 87! Eddie still says he is THE SOUL MAN. I can't wait to see and perform with these legends again!

    Thanks for posting this!

    J. B. Hutto and The New Hawks - That's the Truth 1981

    Chicago blues.

    Jimmy Hall - That's The Truth 2015

    Southern Rock, rhythm, and blues.

First heard Jim Hall on a progressive rock station in South Bend when their 2nd album was released (1972). Met him about 5 years later at Summerfest in Milwaukee.

This is the song that had me dancing on the table.

You are welcome. This next live performance may be of interest (wonderful camera work towards the end where the view is looking down over Dixon's right shoulder).

One notable aspect of the performance is the interplay between Spann and Dixon. Dixon's bass playing provides a solid foundation for Spann's piano and vocals, and the two musicians often engage in call-and-response exchanges that highlight their musical chemistry and improvisational skills. The camera work you mentioned, which provides a view over Dixon's shoulder, offers a unique perspective on the musicians' interaction and adds to the overall impact of the performance.
Overall, the Otis Spann Trio's performance of "Blues Don't Like Nobody" is a masterful example of Chicago blues at its finest, and a testament to the enduring talent and influence of Otis Spann as a musician and performer.

For the Love of Money, The O’Jays

The bass line on this song has been bouncing around in my head for a week now. For this performance, Curtis Teel is laying down the groove…

Mostly live performances on Soul Train before '73. Look at that horn section! Even at scale not cheap. The mikes, engineers, technicians, a stage full of skilled and talented musicians, how much fun was that?
