With the very sad recent passing of my favorite Eagles member, Randy Meisner, I'll post this one. IMO one of, if not the best, male tenor voices that has ever been. What amazing vocal range he had. Randy was a founding member of both Poco and the Eagles. RIP Randy.

Decent bassist also, and drives this tune hard with his fellow bandmates, fronted by Linda Ronstadt's golden pipes.

    Luke Combs; Fast Cars

I’m so glad Luke brought this song by Tracy Chapman back into airplay. Tracy didn’t know it, but she wrote one heck of a country song…

Many remember it from Elvis, and of course it was fabulous. But the original was done by a magical performer. He was, well, I'll leave it at unique for the time, and played often down South. He had one of the very best bands in the land. Some of the gentlemen from that band still perform from time to time at a place in New Orleans called the Mother-in-Law Lounge. Ernie Kandor, known professionally as Ernie K-Do, whose 1961 hit the lounge is named, after had a young protege he took off the street, Kermit Ruffin. He now leads the parade every year. When Ernie passed, the lounge went to Kermit. If you want to hear the cats that played on that record, some are still here, and hang there regularly in Kermit's band. It's not in the best part of town, but it's the real deal! Who was the original artist on that record Richard Penniman, known to the world as Little Richard, and major influence on Elvis recorded this on Specialty Records in 1955! Elvis followed in 1956! I am honored to have been on several shows with Little Richard long ago, in Raleigh and Charlotte, NC. He and his band, we're simply amazing.

It does my heart good to see this new generation enjoying the music! Great music lives on in the hearts and minds of us all forever!

I’m posting this kinda random. I do like the song and their rendition, it’s really a drummer’s song, (imho). And that’s what’s intrigued me in this video..

WTH is the drummer playing? It’s not a drum kit. It’s obviously a drum machine in a box you can sit on, with snare, tom’s, bass, etc. Whatever it is, he’s good at it…( How much better than bongo’s!)

Thanks Warren! Now, I gotta justify the cost to the Mrs….You know, a Cajon sounds like something I can pass off as a tractor implement. I can hear me now…

“Hey honey, I’m gonna run down to Rural King and pickup a cajon for the tractor”

    “ What’s that?”

” Uh,,,It’s a box that will prop up the brush hog when I take it off the tractor…..And the darnedest thing is, you can hit it with your hands and it sounds just like a drum kit……”

I've always thought Poco had the best harmonies. Timothy B. Schmidt wrote the lyrics and sang vocals: https://youtu.be/QfQp80S3tM4?si=SQIkbCxBdVXjYIWB

Pigmeat Markham - Here Comes The Judge 1968

I heard about Markham from fellow Explorer Scout at WSBT who played this on his 5 watt AM pirate station out of his basement. He had an Altec Lansing Valencia speaker I think. Check out the bass and drum lines.
