    Best progressive for a +10.75 ?

I have a client I'm trying to find a lens for in Canada, or possibly in the US. She is currently wearing a Shamir Genesis 167
    Rx
    R)+9.00 +1.75 x 175
    L)+9.00 +1.75 x 180
    +2.50 add
The Base Curve she has is ~ +7.25 the back base curve is approx. -.50 to a +1.00

The Shamir product isn't readily available to me. I can get Physio 360 1.74 index but the retail price is over $800 ...the only other lens I can get is a comfort 1.67
The New frame is a small 48/17 and I need around 17 high. PD is 27.5/28
What other lenses has anyone used with that high nasty plus??
I would like to be able to offer her a few other price points but so far Nikon has nothing, Hoya has nothing and Essilor has one, and a lame 2nd that doesn't meet min. fit hight.

Run with the Comfort 1.67 or call US optical, they have the Shamir line and they'll take a credit card and ship FedEx.

By the way, the difference in thickness between the 1.74 and the 1.67 is .6mm. .6mm is not worth the added $.
    Go to http://opticampus.com/tools/thickness.php
To play with the thickness calculator and see for yourself.

I second this. I just fit a Comfort 1.67 two weeks ago with an Rx in that upper range like your client's (except reading was much lower...I think around +1.50 OU). A little Pantos and a few minor tweeks to the frame.....my Px was a happy camper. :)

Thanx all, comforts might be worth a try....If she doesn't like them I guess we could get a non adapt and send them back. Maybe then she might pay the difference and go Physio 360.

I would use Ice-Tech and their 1.71 FF PAL, it's going to have the best acuity of any "super" high index PAL.

    Rodenstock's Hyperop should be considered.

I'm not sure if Zeiss's Gradal Top Individual (not the frame fit) is available over +10 D. Might be worth a call.

I've just convinced my client to go with the Rodenstock Impression Hyperop 167 lenses...It was more than she wanted to spend, but better vision was what convinced her.

Thanx to all for the suggestions. I will update this thread after she picks up.

Have you tried the lenses? Who in US does them?

    Barry,

What is the scoop on Rodenstock these days?

Rigid contacts with either bifocals or SV and Comfort over same. For glasses to use before contacts put in and after removal (If properly fitted in CL this is the only time spectacles will be used) use bifocal only with round top segs.
Or you can do what you are doing and patient will be happy until someone does the above.

    Chip

Remember no matter what you do in spectacles this high :bbg:the cosmetics are going to be so ugly that the added cosmetic enhancement of a progressive will be negligble.

Pro Fit in TX sells them. They have Rodenstock freeform available as uncuts and their older PALs and other lenses available in semi-finished form.
