Which lasts longer: Glasses or computers?

Thinking about the current average price for decent eyewear and a computer, I was wondering what you all think matters or is worth more?

Both are purchased roughly every 3-4 years
Both cost about the same - depending on the sophistication
Both "expire" around the same time, yes?

    POLL!

For many, a computer would be useless without their glasses.

The people who would invest in maintaining the edge in technology for their home/office/recreational computer will likely apply that same practicality to their necessary eyewear.

Computer technology "outdates" at a far more rapid pace then either a patients RX or eyewear style. The exception being a contact lens wearer, even they may stretch out their neccessity to return.

As for cost, eyeglasses and computers are relatively the same cost. I had a system built for my home a year ago or so and paid a very conservative $1,500 usd for the materials and work. You can also now buy a netbook for as little as $150.

You can get a pair of glasses from $49.95 - $4,995.00 and should last 5 to 10 years.

You can purchase a new computer from $499.50 up to $4,995
and it should last 3 to 5 years.

With this great disparity of prices it's impossible to determine value. My personal choice is to spend $49.95 on a pair of glasses and $4995.00 on hardware.

Could not the computer screen be programmed to compensate for your vision defect?

All depends on the user. Proper care=longevity. I have a 2001 manufacture date HP PC that is still running. It's my kids PC, get's them online and allows them to play games. If you are refractively stable one can expect similar longevity.
